So seeing as GW has decided to update all the codices to bring them in-line with the current edition of the rules, I've decided to finally drop the game in favor of generic systems.
I've also collected a sizable force for playing the Horus Heresy, and will still play that version, but not regular 40K.
I'm fortunate to have a couple of locals who will play generic sci-fi games, but have no interest in 40K.
I'll be looking to play Warzone(1st Ed), USEME, FAD, Five Parsecs, FUBAR, Blasters and Bulkheads, Swatters, and whatever I can find.
My question is if anyone knows of a rules set that has a system for building your own vehicles? I'm thinking Ramshackle Games' Nuclear Renaissance may have what I'm looking for. Something along the lines of Gorka Morka would be great, but I don't want to be limited by Gorka Morka's build system.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Doesn't G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. have a build system?

Could always go back to Rogue Trader, if you have/can find a copy. Though the original RT vehicle rules treat vehicles kinda like big infantry models. IIRC, there was an update (may have been in a White Dwarf) with a better set of Vehicle Design Rules.

Heavy Gear (especially HG1 or 2) has vehicle design rules and is written around a limited number of vehicles with infantry in support.

I have GASLIGHT, but don't those rules require malfunction checks each turn?

Tomorrow's War is expressly designed for this sort of purpose. I use it for Hard Sci Fi, as well as Science Fantasy--including games in the 40K universe.

So far, it has been a slam dunk at being better with the fluff than the main game.

I have several AAR's posted on the Tomorrows War forum using 40K figures and fluff.
