I would have been interested when I lived there – but in Vietnam now! Given there are quite a lot of people teaching English there plus all the US military types there is a good chance of finding someone interested. Unlikely they'd have their gear with them though. What are you doing in the ROK BTW? |

Been here since 2006-English professor at a top university here. What do you do in Vietnam? |

There was quite a bit of "Axis and Allies" action at the Moyer Recreation Center on Saturday afternoons at Yongsan Main Post in the 1994-1995 time frame. |

Autoblinda, during my service in Korea there was a lot of boardgaming going on, but much less miniature gaming. I think the biggest reason for that was that a decent miniature collection was hard to bring along, given the limited baggage allowance. |

I'm an English teacher – been one since 1996 with varying degrees of ability. I think tuscaloosa has nailed the reason few if any take any miniatures/terrain to the ROK, but a few boardgames would have helped me while away the time. I am still trying to figure out how to get my collection out of mothballs and over here, since I am settled here now. But cost of doing so is high and there are risks with customs. Also – I get more fun out of VASSAL than I ever did with tabletop games – though I do miss the modelling/collecting. That and there is no-one local to play with, though I do have the space to play large games at home that I never had in the UK. |

Where in Korea are you? i am near Seoul. I used to play command decision back in the 90s and got back into the hobby last year.I am interested in Chain of command and i aint been shot mum. Willing to try other game systems as well. I have repurchased my collections – a lot of stuff from caliver books, warlord, perry minnies etc… Much easier to get stuff these days due to the internet, |

I WAS in Seoul, Daegu and then Gwangyang. But left in 2007. It seems we overlapped briefly. I live in DaNang now. I hope you find some gamers – there must be some people interested. |

Autoblinda, It may be just us here. I'm one of those military types down near Pyeongtaek. I'm doing a longer tour than most so I had a bigger baggage allowance. As a result I could bring part of my collection along. As luck would have it part of what made the cut was my copy of Chain of Command. I have no experience with it but at least I have the rule book. For WWII I have quite a bit of battlefront 15mm for NWE based up individually to use with Battlegroup Normandy. Other irons in the fire at various stages of completion incl. ACW in 18mm, some Napoleonics in 10mm (God help me) and the start of an AWI project. |

Festerfest, Play CoC in 15mm with your individually based chaps, using the stated measurements, as its works brilliantly and you need a relatively small miniature colection to get a decent game. CoC is an engrossing game (much like BG:O). |

Cool! I am in Ansan and have a whole set up here.Decided to do COC as it is skirmish, but wound up getting a lot of stuff. These days you can get yourself a plastic boxed set and one or two 1/48 armour models pretty cheap. Also if you are on base shipping is US. In Korea you can use this site for plastic sets link link I may have some time to play a demo game (1st time COC as well) after the semester ends (late June),maybe we can familiarize ourselves with the rules by then. |

Autoblinda, Late June will work for me. Check out youtube. The lardies did a series of demo videos for COC that are pretty good as I remember. We'll need to coordinate on scale. I'm heavier into the collecting and painting side of the hobby. What actual gaming I've done has usually been solo. That means I have forces for both sides in 15mm as well as terrain. After 10 years I'm certainly not short of lead. If you're set on 28mm I can certainly afford to cobble a platoon size force together in the interest of harmony. Who would you like to pick a fight with? The Germans are always popular. I'll check out the page when I get the wife's facebook account info. To say i'm not into social media is an understatement. Leadmountain,
I figured COC would translate well enough to 15mm. It has a lot of good reviews and I've heard almost nothing negative about it. |
