Is there a brand of adhesive for this in US? Getting it from UK is expensive.

Is carpet tackifier some special kind of adhesive that is different than normal carpet adhesive?

And why carpet adhesive instead of a normal glue?

To be honest, any sort of latex / rubber based glue will work for making self adhesive tufts. I regularly use copydex to make static grass patches.
