Long story short, a gamer in my local group is pushing to get us started on 15mm fantasy, and I'm probably going to take the plunge. On my short list of armies I am looking at building is a Dark Elf force. If I go that route, I'll probably mostly use Splintered Light figures. But there are some figures in the Demonworld line that will make very good GW style "Witch Elves". So not having seen any Demonworld figures in person, how do the two brand mix? Are they compatible in size? Martin |

The sculpting style is a little different, particularly on the dark elves. The Demonworld are a little more oriental style. Size wise most of Splintered Light mixes pretty well with Demonworld, but I don't have the dark elves to compare. I know this may not help much, but I have a picture comparing some different manufacturers. They are all human figs though. link |

The McBrides have a large Demonworld collection, predating Splintered light. Lovely figures. They run a LITTLE larger than SLM, but not so much that you cannot use them together, though perhaps not in the same units. We still use some Demonworld armies (such as the desert goblins) for which no equivalent SLM exists. So you've lots of choice! |

Thanks for the quick replies on this, gang. Looks like I need to look around and figure out were to order the Demonworld figures from. Obviously I know how to get the Splintered Light stuff! ;-) >>The Demonworld are a little more oriental style. I'm actually not fond of the Japanese inspired look of their Dark Elf line. I was thinking of using some "Ice Witches" from their Ice Lords line as my "Witch Elf" unit:

Hi, I did exactly the same thing. I picked up Demonworld figs to use with my SL Dark Elf army. They will work fine together. I won't need to mix them. The Dark Elves are really great figs all the way around. Thanks, John |

I myself prefer the SL figs for DE.I also have the old RP Battlesystem, but those are virtually unobtanable now. |

So here is the next related question: Is there a source for Demonworld in the US, or does one have to order from Europe? Martin |

Yes. FASA is the distributor here in the states. Link to their page is here: link Shipping is quick, cheap, and they carry the entire range! ~J |

Thank you, sir! Payday it looks like they'll be hearing from me. Now I just have to settle on a Dark Elf skin tone. Decisions, decisions…. Martin |

Hope I was clear enough. I meant the SL Dark Elves. They are outstanding! |

A consistent paint style will pull them together nicely. I think it would be a good mix. |

Personally I love both ranges and agree, the DW are slightly larger but will work with SLM. As to colour, I went with blue and a scheme that I think make them a little less Japanese inspired that they are: more here – link
I've not yet had a chance to paint up the SLM ones but could do a scale comparison if you were desperate.

Pretty stuff, Jimboba. I'm thinking of a darker blue with my Elves. But your skin tones looks quite nice. Martin |

Thanks all. Kind of wanted to avoid the usual dark elf approach and achieve; 1. Not too Oriental 2. Be able to be 'good' rather than just 'evil' 3. With the infantry at least, get that 'cold icy' vibe. The mounted ones I painted a while back and had just got some new paints so went a bit kaleidoscopic. Ooops. My concern with a darker skin tone was the potential for a loss of the detail. Which with these sculpts would be a shame to obscure. |

Oh man dammit! I wish I had seen that Dark Elf Dragonman with Sorceress pack BEFORE I ordered on the weekend. Next time. |
