Hezbollah's tactics and perhaps performance in the 2006 Lebanon War reminds me of the Soviets at Kursk. Defense in depth and lots of hidden positions to hit their opponent from all sides. Both achieved their objectives of stopping their opponents. It will be interesting to see how Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian Civil War improves the skills of their soldiers. To me, the Israeli-Arab conflict is similar to the one between ancient Sparta and Thebes. Best not to keep fighting your opponent. It only encourages them to get better. |
