…night horror.

"Twitter erupted with Game of Thrones fandom angst Sunday night as Sansa Stark was brutally attacked and humiliated on her wedding night by her sadistic new husband Ramsay Bolton. Across five seasons, audiences have watched as the character—played by Sophie Turner—grew up on screen, with Sansa shifting from a naive innocent pining for a storybook marriage to gradually evolving into a hardened survivor. But on Sunday night, the character was raped at the hands of the psychotic son of her mother's killer, while her former childhood friend Theon was forced to watch.

We heard about this scene while on the Thrones set in October and were able to briefly discuss it with producer Bryan Cogman, who also wrote the episode (in addition we have an interview with Turner where she gives us her thoughts about the scene).

My first question to Cogman was what would he say to fans who ask: "How could you do this to Sansa?"…"

Personally I think that GoT has gone too far. Ramsay Bolton, as written by George RR Martin is one of the sickest characters (IMO) in popular "literature" but HBO seems determined to take it further. It's just me of course but I won't watch it again nor will I put anymore money in Martin's pocket by buying the remaining books. The level of misogyny exhibited by the people who make this series sickens me.

Real world history is full of a lot worse yet we as wargamers are generally avid readers of history. Nothing the fictional character Ramsay Bolton did cannot be found in any article on torture in medieval times. I think claims of misogyny by the makers of this show is going too far. There are strong female characters in the TV series and books – lots of them.

Of course you do illustrate the simple beauty of the TV's off switch – I use it all the time when I don't like something I see.

My big objection to the latest episode are the Dorn scenes. The Sand Snakes had a most honourable father who would not under any circumstances hurt a child – yet they are all set to capture and mutilate one. It is like they never actually met their Dad.

While it is true that many evil people have existed in history they have often been dealt with in their own time and I have not been expected to watch and be entertained by their acts. Martin and company have done a lot of awful stuff, much of it to women. I may be a wargamer but I am a human first.

Bolton has Bleeped texted up.

Sansa will kill him slow. Probably by flaying him alive.

God help him if Arya gets ahold of him.

It's just being outrageous for outrageous sake in the lieu of intelligent well thought out and original writing.

The Walking Dead suffers exactly the same problem.

The writers have run out of good ideas so oh I know, let's abuse a stark female, again. Snore!

Yes, and I think the outrage over the scene is outrage for outrage's sake. For Westerosi wedding nights, that's a pretty average one. Khal Drogo wasn't any more cuddly.

It's actually less humiliating than the scene in the book, so I'll give it to HBO not to have gone as crazy as Martin did.

But if you're looking for intelligent and well-thought out, you should never read Martin's books, at least not past the second one. He's been winging it for years, and his shtick is to pile degradation on top of degradation.

Dwarf? Not enough. UGLY dwarf. Wait, not enough. Ugly dwarf who gets his nose hacked off! Wait, STILL not enough. Ugly dwarf who gets his nose hacked off AND has to ride a pig. No, no, how about Ugly dwarf who gets his nose hacked off, has to ride a pig, AND gets stoneskin/leprosy! YEAH! I R A GOOD WRITERZ!!!

Don't hold back, Darth. Say what you really think!

HBO is showing no more or less than what;s in the books.
For Senator Claire and The Mary Sue to get all bent out of shape and outraged now only means they have not been paying attention.
