Hey all---are there many/any ARVN-centric scenario books floating around out there?

I'm thinking of doing a scenario book, with platoon/reinforced-platoon-sized actions, centered on the ARVN during the late period of the war (Lam Son 719, the '72 Offensive, and '75 Offensive), and don't want to trip over the same battles as other books.

YES!!! I mean, no, there aren't any ARVN scenario books that I'm aware of, but I'd gladly shell out for some mini-campaigns for Laos and the Easter Offensive in particular, and if I did that there's no way I could stay away from the final offensive ;)

Jack

So you'll sell at least TWO copies. I'm definitely in!

The TFL scenario book Surf's Up has some scenarios in it that are ARVN only.

Great to see some interest :) they'll be for my rules, but should be easily translated to other platoon level games.

Put me down for a copy too. Maybe include an early scenario or two also. 1964-65: Binh Gia, Dong Xoai, etc.

Currently thinking a trio of mini campaigns. Probably Lam Son and maybe Xuan Loc (might be spelling that wrong) in '75--I might try an earlier war campaign as the third.

@Extra Crispy:

My rules are "A Sergeant's War," available at Wargame Vault. They emphasize unit quality, morale, and small-unit leaders--much of the game is about getting your sections of infantry and vehicles forward against enemy fire. I think it's main strengths are how it represents small unit leadership, somewhat realistic casualty rates, and that it plays pretty quickly. It's for WWII, but I have some pretty minimal changes in mind to make it playable for Vietnam.

Thanks for the expressions of interest. Hope to have it released near the end of the summer---gotta get some research done first! If you're looking for an interesting book on the ARVN, go find "ARVN: Life and Death in the South Vietnamese Army," by Robert Brigham. link

Not a combat history, but a great examination of the problems of the ARVN, that isn't "they were corrupt cowards who didn't fight for their country."
