Hello!

Does any one have pictures comparing the OG1st edition to the OG2nd edition?

I've heard some say they don't mix well.

I've tried to find some comparison pics online but haven't yet.

I'm getting ready to work on some OG1st ed Russians and am thinking of adding some of these to the mix if they work well together.

Sorry no pictures -- but I can tell you that the figures do not mix. I love the 2nd Edition sculps. I have some French bns of just OG2nd. Much more "artistic." But all castings are just some version of march attack and they just don't seem to fit in with 1stEd. Hard to find the exact reason. Not so much taller; not so much different in proportion. Just clearly not within the same line. I'd say pass on the idea. And FYI -- I have lots of units with blended figures. Men were not all the same size and shape -- but there are certainly limits and again I think OG 1st versus 2nd goes beyond the limit. Hope that helps.

There is a visible difference in style AND size. We use both in the same army, but in different units.

Having said that, I still prefer the action style of the original 1.0 version.

Old Glory 2.0 are sculpted by the Sash and Saber sculptor (Chris Hughes?). They are static pose and less bulky than the 1.0 figures. They would not mix in the same unit but, depending on your tastes, would be fine in their own units. I mix them with Foundry easily but keep them in separate units. The molds have seen less use than the 1.0 figure molds so they are clean, crisp and undistorted.

Thanks everyone!!! This really helped. For now I'll stick with the 1st edition minis. Perhaps down the road a unit of 2nd ed will find it;s way to the battlefield.

So many of the plumes have broken off the 1st ed Russian Line Grenadiers I thought having some of the 2nd ed around to replace them with might help.

There are no "Hey Steve!" poses in 2nd ed.

It's perfectly courteous and gentlemanly to acknowledge ol' Steve when passing.

I use both, but keep them seperate. Not much choice among the second edition, mostly just marching.
I bought 300 second edition AWI painted figures from one of the painting services that was selling them for 2 bucks each including the figure. Now that was a steal.
I had units painted that were not main participants in the AWI, maybe one or two battles.
Great background figures.
