Our Battlegroup Overlord demo at the new model and gaming shop that opened in Kildare Town today, Irelands latest wargame and hobby store.

We ran a little game and chatted to visitors about the game.

War Panda16 May 2015 12:57 p.m. PST

Piers Brand:
Wow! That was a very busy table but it looks really good. What was the table size? 3x6 or 4x8 feet? Beautiful buildings and I liked the rusted out StuG wreck. Thanks for posting this and the folks in Kildare are lucky to have seen a demo of such quality. Cheers and good gaming.
Rod Robertson.

Wonderful job you blokes!
Congratulations on the opening of the shop too.

PiersBrand16 May 2015 5:16 p.m. PST

Table was 6.5 x 5.

seldonH16 May 2015 8:13 p.m. PST

Astonishing table… sincere congratulations !

Fan-(expletive deleted)- tastic.
I've seen the Stug wreck in a mag or on a blog before and it really is superb.
I like the padre in the seventh photo. I've got one for my British Paras, but I've never seen another.

Not sure which to be more envious of, the superb models and table OR that terrific looking new hobby shop!

PiersBrand17 May 2015 3:08 p.m. PST

Cheers chaps!

Inspiring stuff :)

PiersBrand19 May 2015 2:49 a.m. PST

Cheers again guys, if it inspires others then its done its job!

Hope to be running another demo at the store later in the summer, maybe a mini bootcamp event for those in ireland looking to learn the basics of the system.

uglyfatbloke19 May 2015 3:01 a.m. PST

The buildings are really excellent…what's the story there? Did you make them yourself?

PiersBrand19 May 2015 4:01 a.m. PST

A chum of mine makes them, he sells occasionally on Ebay but thankfully does me stuff on the side.

uglyfatbloke19 May 2015 4:09 a.m. PST

Very impressive.

Skarper19 May 2015 7:15 a.m. PST

What's the Bofors gun engaging?? 9th Tactical Luftwaffe P-47s??

PiersBrand19 May 2015 2:49 p.m. PST

They are trying to look busy in front of the RSM…

uglyfatbloke19 May 2015 4:07 p.m. PST

Surely not… they are just about to engage a box containing a model of a blue sports car on a shelf to their left.
Before I cry myself into abject despair, tell me that this is 28mm kit, not 20mm.
Regardless, pack it all up carefully into a big box an send it to us. We'll gladly look after it.

PiersBrand19 May 2015 4:28 p.m. PST

Its 20mm… only size for WW2.

TunnelRat20 May 2015 6:40 a.m. PST

Its 20mm… only size for WW2.

Have to agree whole heartedly with Piers – 20mm the one true scale! :-)

uglyfatbloke20 May 2015 9:50 a.m. PST

I don't believe you; pack them all up in a bx and send them to me so I can check them out properly..over a period of many years….
I should have realised – on reflection I recognised the style of your buildings person from ebay…photographic technique and all that.
If our 28s looked half as good as your 20s my wife would n't give me lectures on how come we don't have nicer terrain on which to decimate my Paras with her Pzgrs.
I am crying as I write this. So I'm going to forward it to selected individuals so that they can share my misery and envy.
It will not make them happy, but it's what they deserve.

PiersBrand20 May 2015 1:02 p.m. PST

I feel the need to make amends for my sins UFB…

Send me a 28mm tank and I will paint it for ya to cheer you up!

Skarper20 May 2015 11:07 p.m. PST

Aye – you'll paint it Piers – but will you send it back??

Another amazing game again – I never get tired of looking at them. Keep'em coming.

PiersBrand21 May 2015 12:00 a.m. PST

Well I wouldnt want a 28mm tank would I?

Its no size for playing WW2, everyone knows that… ;)

uglyfatbloke21 May 2015 3:12 a.m. PST

You've got a deal Piers if you're serious. As it happens I'm waiting for a delivery of stuff. Drop me an email with your address. I'm at – thathistorybloke@btinternet.com

28mm stuff gets to be more attractive/practical as you get old and blind. That said, we do have quite a lot of 20mm stuff as well. I've got Japanese for Burma and Malaya and Germans for Italy. My wife has Indians and US Airborne….Rapid Fire Brigade groups/regiments of each.

I'm still weeping.

PiersBrand21 May 2015 3:25 a.m. PST

I never joke about offering to paint something… Only happens once every decade. ;)

Email on way…

Skarper21 May 2015 8:24 a.m. PST

Not only is Peirs one talented chap he is also generous to boot.

uglyfatbloke22 May 2015 2:24 a.m. PST

Very much so…in both aspects.

PiersBrand22 May 2015 4:22 a.m. PST

Awwww… you guys!

uglyfatbloke22 May 2015 7:42 a.m. PST

What makes you think we're guys?
