I got the Spear. Which would be my ideal weapon personally. Basic, to the point and easy to use in a group. Probably cheaper as well.

John the OFM15 May 2015 9:37 p.m. PST

Anything I was good at.
Failing that, a halberd.

Pictors Studio15 May 2015 9:50 p.m. PST

I'd probably opt for a spear too. Seems the most useful for someone not trained in any of that stuff.

Pictors Studio15 May 2015 9:52 p.m. PST

I got the spear in the quiz now that I have taken it.

Griefbringer15 May 2015 10:45 p.m. PST

For some reason the quiz suggested that I should start packing Partisan!

Atomic Floozy15 May 2015 10:50 p.m. PST

I got the chainsaw! Nahh, just kidding. I got the partisan.

Pole axe just as I expected. Suit me down to the ground but of course I would still prefer a Bren.

Mako1115 May 2015 11:44 p.m. PST

A halberd for me.

According to the test it seems the Two Handed Sword is the melee weapon for me.

Whichever one puts me at the back of the formation, so that when I run away nobody will notice…

Cardinal Ximenez16 May 2015 6:41 a.m. PST

Doh! It's a QA deal.

Poleaxe which is close to my initial answer.

Wackmole916 May 2015 6:58 a.m. PST

foot mace

Rebelyell200616 May 2015 7:04 a.m. PST

Spear for me, although a more suitable answer would have been "wagon driver".

Gone Fishing16 May 2015 7:19 a.m. PST

A poleaxe. They were deadly effective: I once read a good hit with one could crack open plate armour like a nut.

Mardaddy16 May 2015 7:31 a.m. PST

Hmmm, the quiz must be weighted, because I answered the hook is effective and I want it, I expect to be fighting lightly armored, and want reach, yet it assigned me a two-handed sword.

Given choice, I'd want a lucerne hammer.

Only Warlock16 May 2015 8:30 a.m. PST

Mace and shield.

Martin Rapier16 May 2015 12:05 p.m. PST

A spear, which given that my medieval ancestors were agricultural labourers, is exactly what they'd be given when they marched off to be slaughtered.

Benvartok16 May 2015 1:25 p.m. PST

An AK…..oh ok a partisan.

Personal logo PaulCollins Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2015 5:10 p.m. PST

A partisan for me. Interesting choice!

Great War Ace16 May 2015 7:09 p.m. PST

Another partisan….

Raynman Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2015 9:05 p.m. PST

Halberd for me!

durecell17 May 2015 4:33 a.m. PST

I also got a Partisan. Not quite what I was looking for.

WillieB17 May 2015 5:11 a.m. PST

A pole axe. My Kendo instructor will have a fit….

warhorse17 May 2015 6:53 a.m. PST

Two-hand sword. Which is weird considering most of my training in fighting techniques has been for the pike, and the one-handed straight sword!

Great War Ace17 May 2015 7:47 a.m. PST

All my training is with the crossbow, but somehow I doubt that that was an option with this "quiz", so I didn't approach it with that possibility in mind….

CeruLucifus17 May 2015 10:34 a.m. PST

Got the spear. Last question is redundant with one of the earlier questions.

janner17 May 2015 10:38 a.m. PST

They seemed to assume that I'd only be fighting on foot – how odd wink

Katzbalger17 May 2015 3:48 p.m. PST

I ended up with partisan. That's okay. I would have preferred sword and buckler, but I don't know if that is even an option. Plus partisan is more useful against horsemen.

Lucky seven! I got the partisan…which I'd never heard of-Do Partisans use partisans?

Ethanjt2117 May 2015 8:03 p.m. PST

Spear, thank the Lord. I'd like to be relatively safe(ish)

goragrad17 May 2015 10:35 p.m. PST

Partisan, which is amusing as my answer quit likely wold have a naginata.

No weapon catching points. but in the SCA I liked something I could fence with that had a bit of reach.

At least when I wasn't playing Roman with a gladius and scutum…

Broadsword and shield was expected, but close in with a big shield and a short thrusting weapon or farther out with a blade on a stick were my preferences.

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP19 May 2015 11:10 a.m. PST

Halberd, which is what I would have chosen, all things considered.

But my real "melee" weapon of choice would be an electric cattle prod with a significant charge capacity. That, or a chainsaw. And a boomstick. wink

Orlock19 May 2015 4:18 p.m. PST

I got halberd, but being from the British Isles ill go for a bill hook.

freecloud20 May 2015 1:46 p.m. PST

I wanted the Byzantine mace, couldn't work out how to get it.

The Webley wasn't available either….
