So randomly i looked at three types of swords, viking, repier and katana, both the katana and viking avrages 1.1kg, ok fine, very different styles, but can see that both weighs sameish.

But the repier also weighs 1kg…. does not compute…

Is like 70% of the weight in the hilt.

The rapier is primarily a thrusting weapon and is balanced to facilitate moving the point quickly. The katana and Viking swords are balanced for cutting.

Gunfreak:
Rapiers started off as heavier swords than they finally became. Fashion and the winds of sword-play made them lighter and lighter over time until the epee was born. An early rapier with a substantial basket-hilt is a pretty hefty sword.
Cheers and good gaming.

But its still a lack of mass, were is that ekstra 500g of metal, the repier looks only to weigh half a kg, not 1kg.

Yes.
That's how it's balanced for use. It's what makes them so deadly.

Looking at pictures is pointless, it does nothing. Go out and see them for real.

And hold them in your hand. That's where you realize how the designs REALLY differ.

Like the feel of a P38 compared to a 1911 compared to a Glock 17.

Why would you compare a Glock 17 to a 1911 to a small can opener?
