"Autumn, 1942. Hitler's legions have swept across Europe; France has fallen; Churchill and the English are isolated on their island. In North Africa, Rommel and his Panzers have routed the British Eighth Army and stand poised to overrun Egypt, Suez, and the oilfields of the Middle East. With the outcome of the war hanging in the balance, the British hatch a desperate plan -- send a small, highly mobile, and heavily armed force behind German lines to strike the blow that will stop the Afrika Korps in its tracks…"

is a good book that has been out for quite some time.

I do hope you have other, non-internet related, activities in your life, bro.

I have read that book. It was interesting enough. Not a stay up all night page-turner, but I always came back to it excited to read more.

I met Steven at a book signing many years ago at an independent bookstore when he was promoting "Last of the Amazons." Even though I brought my 1st edition copy of "Gates of Fire" he autographed it without question. I later bought LOTA and loved it as well.

I enjoy most of his books. I've given away more copies of GoF than I can recall and his latest "The Profession" was quite good.

His novella 'The War of Art' helped me start my own fiction projects and keep at it. Big debt of gratitude there.

My dad read this and gave it to me to read. I'm not a big fan of fiction but will have to read it one day so as not to disappoint dear old Dad.

I think this was based on a real incident, wasn't it (though how much, I don't know).

I do remember reading of a botched attempt to assassinate Rommel
