Having read some of the relevant thread on Frothers, I would like to make the comment that "Frothers" as an entity (is it even an entity?) did not do any of those things; a very small number of people who post on Frothers did. That is a bit like blaming TMP for the posts of a few members.

I am slightly baffled by the logic in your post, Bill. Are you claiming that it is ok to make an attack if someone else has made a worse attack, and that is why TrenchRaider got away with it? That seems to be what you are saying.

The difference is that on TMP, posts like that would not be allowed. Frothers tolerates and even encourages that kind of behavior.

Mormons are cool by me…my wifes side is all Mormon. She was baptized in the Church, but converted to Catholicism when we got married. She can still enter the temple, I can not.

That would be nice. But I would far prefer he apologize for creating this mess of a thread in the first place. I would prefer he apologize to the TMP community as a whole for the mess he caused . I would prefer that he take a good long look in the mirror and have the self-awareness to recognize how bad he made himself look (on an international level mind you) with the antics on this thread. You know, I really do actually feel a little sorry for the guy.

I've never actually chosen to be straight, so I do not understand the process. If it is a choice, then wouldn't that mean that part of you is gay but you suppress it as a choice? Do you wake up every morning and ask yourself if you are straight? How often are you gay? And do you withhold judgment against gay people since you might be gay tomorrow?

Rape is about power, not attraction.

Yes, I would imagine there are a certain number of prisoners that do choose to engage in homosexuality because of the limitations of their environment (and other factors, like not wanting to take matters into their own… you get it.)

Prison rape is completely different – enhancing or establishing power & domination through a very personal form of humiliation, I would not equate that "choice" to the first.

You don't need to be a wargamer in order to format text, resize graphics, and maintain databases.

Everybodies point of view should be respectfully viewed unless it directly attacks wargaming :) or a human beings dignity. Anything else that is at the service of derision should be thrashed. "If we judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree then of course we'll think it's (they're) stupid." This is hardly the place to discuss people's differences…and make judgements. I think it's irresponsible of the editor of this "Wargaming" site to both instigate (if those accusations are true) and preserve this kind of thread. It is obviously popular and attracts attention but in the context of this being a wargames site no wonder it provokes rightful ridicule elsewhere.

It reminds me of a some detergent advertisement that uses sex in a desperate effort to make it somewhat interesting…it would seem to me that the powers that be who don't just tolerate but promote damaging and spiteful behaviour must not believe that wargaming in itself is sufficiently interesting.

I've heard religion and beliefs even been mentioned but this isn't about whether or not certain lifestyles are right or wrong or whether they're chosen or naturally imposed; this is about respecting the human dignity that is instrinsic to every human being. Anything beyond this should be discussed on a more suitable site and anything that neglects this should not be tolerated here.
