Do you and your group watch TV programs or a movie while wargaming? (a) Yes, our group always has something on. (b) It depends on what is on TV. (c) No, we consider it too much of a distraction. (d) ____________________________ |

No. I would consider it most discourteous! |

I agree with John Armatys above. I would consider it to be very bad manners to have a TV playing while people were trying to conduct conversations. |

No, but we often have music on in the background. Western film theme tunes for gunfights; the hobbit soundtrack for the Battle of Five Armies boardgame. Using Spotify is really useful as there are often playlists that you can find to match the mood of your game. |

We can't see the tv from the gaming table but none of us watch much tv anyways. We do usually have music on though. |

I will paint with a movie on. Like I am working on my Custer game and have a documentary rolling off YouTube. Gives you ideas. But during an actual game. That is nuts |

C – wouldn't get a "darn" thing done if a movie was on. No music either. |
Rrobbyrobot | 09 May 2015 4:30 p.m. PST |
While painting, yes. While gaming, never. |

I'm a 'no tv while gaming' kind of guy. And as for music, I like instrumental music, but don't like the distraction of singing. The most annoyed I ever got at the game table when the host had talk radio playing in the background. |

No video when the group has a game on, but when we get together to build stuff is when the video gets turned on. |

Sometimes, but not often, there is something on as background noise. |

I played a game once where we watched Zulu before a game….but never during a game. |

There is a guy who hosts games in our club who is a big war movie fan. He loves to have a movie running that fits the historical period we're gaming. Unfortunately, it can be a real distraction at times. |

I'm wargaming, how on earth can I watch TV at the same time? |
miniMo | 10 May 2015 10:47 a.m. PST |
Gaming, no. Painting, yes. |

No! Why on earth would anyone do that? I can either game or watch TV but not both. In fact if I had my way everyone would check their mobile devices at the front door. Need to focus. We do have period correct music playing in the background. The volume level is kept low enough as to not distract. So the obvious answer is "C". I don't have to try it to know it is a distraction. Same reason I don't turn on the TV in the morning. Because I will probably start watching and be late to work. |
