I've found that due to their relative rigidity and ability to hold a shape, I greatly prefer plastic for things such as spears, swords, axes, rifles, (and anything else with a gun barrel).

Which leads me to wonder: What is your prefered material for bits?

a) plastic
b) resin
c) metal
d) other (specify)

Tiny metal bits are a nightmare to put together. I present to you the OOP Khemri Blood Bowl team. Some nimrod at GW had the bright idea to make the skeletons from the plastic multi parts out of metal and add shoulder pads and spikes. Up to 10 separate parts to make 1 25mm figure and many were butt joints.
And then there are the Quality Casting 15mm WW2 vehicles with 10 or more parts.
I would still prefer bits made from metal because gluing plastic to metal is difficult.

Soft plastic is fine, hard plastic snaps.

I make my spears out of plastic brush bristles.

For some things metal is better.
