Very Nice Work!

Has the 'quality' of the metal casting changed since the handover-? I really like the range but have found the metal can be rough to work with.

Great paintng!

What rules are you using?

Mako1107 May 2015 5:47 p.m. PST

Those look really great!

Thanks for sharing your pics.

They look like a lot of targets for Luftwaffe aircraft in the Channel, before the Battle of Britain kicks off in earnest.

I have some of the same vessels, and used them as targets for my 1/144th scale Stukas.

IIRC, all survived the attacks, but there were a few near misses.

Very nice! I have been tempted here myself.

Not sure but I think some of those lighters were unpropelled barges…. :)

Thanks folks, appreciate your comments and questions.

I find the quality of the H&R Coastal Forces castings to be good. They do require a bit of filing along the hull seams and elimination of flash, but no worse than most other miniatures I've worked with.

As for rules I hope to start with David Manley's free downloadable quick play "Schnellboote" to see how many in the local gaming group are interested and then move onto David Manley's more detailed "Action Stations" or David Gregory's excellent "Flaklighter" set. And if there is enough interest maybe run a multi-player campaign with the "Coastal Command" campaign system. Here is the link to the free downloadable Schnellboote rules set:

I still need to paint some aircraft I have from the H&R 3mm Coastal Forces range. They are very good quality castings with less flash than the mix of 1:285-6mm GHQ, Raiden, and Scotia aircraft I have.

And you are absolutely correct Vitualscratchbuilder that the barges are not self-propelled. The Steam Tugs will be used to tow "strings" of them, just didn't photograph the tug with the lighters. I think the bow waves and wakes for the lighters appear a bit faster than they should, but I don't expect it to be too much of a distraction once action is joined.

Cheers everyone.

Very nice.

I hope it is okay that I put a link to here on my Facebok page which is dedicated to 3mm – 1/600 minitaures.

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Splendid…really like the bases.

Action Stations is our rules of choice for coastals, but I use the Hallmark 1/1200. Very nice, though – I might pick some of those up for targets for air gaming.

must resist 1:600…. must resist…

Benjamin, no problem with putting a link on your FaceBook page. Thanks

Inspirational work Bezmozgu7. I have a number of the Skytrex coastal ships (now H&R) and need to get them painted which I hope to do shortly.
