How can anyone "host" peace talks? I would turn it down too.

Face it. It's pointless. Both sides would have non negotiable demands that the other side stop being what they think defines them.

Give up.

wminsing07 May 2015 8:56 a.m. PST

I have to agree with Winston on this one. Neither side really has anything to gain by negotiation, and even if they did how are they going to enforce the terms on their members?

I say TMP and Frothers each choose a champion and have them battle to the death. The defeated web site closes down. Or…we could just stick to topics relating to miniature gaming, like LAF, and end this silly Bleeped text ragging and nagging that goes on between TMP and Frothers. Perhaps some gentlemanly civility between members would go a long way to improving TMP. Rant completed.

skipper John07 May 2015 9:49 a.m. PST

Well one good thing has come of this…. I am now aware of "The Lead Adventure Forum." Thanks!

Phil Hall07 May 2015 9:51 a.m. PST

Since neither TMP or Frothers are organizations no "peace treaty" can have any effect on the users of the sites. Perhaps a threat to ban the accounts of those who denigrate one or the other might have an effect but it is easy enough to join either site with a nom de guerre. And that would be up to the site admins to agree to and administer. That adds one more job to what is already a high maintenance hobby. I don't see any way for a site user to negotiate a peace.

Rebelyell200607 May 2015 9:58 a.m. PST

Or how about just giving it a rest and let Bill lock out disruptive posters? Disruptive people will always appear.

jambo107 May 2015 10:01 a.m. PST

Can we please just get back to talking about model soldiers and all things concerning them. This is becoming tedious, I am a member of both sites but can't see what good "peace" talks will do, total nonsense in my opinion.

Oh Bugger07 May 2015 10:28 a.m. PST

" I am now aware of "The Lead Adventure Forum."

Yeah its pretty good mainly 28mm but well woth visiting even if you are doing other scales.

JezEger07 May 2015 10:29 a.m. PST

LAF has a strict policy of not discussing other forums, because discussing forums has nothing to do with wargaming, crazy idea I know. I'm not sure what you are trying to do with these 'peace talks'. There are a few people on Frothers (not the majority) who don't like either some or all or TMP. Frpthers has a strict policy of allowing true, unmoderated free speech (including as much strong language as you want), so if you want to say you don't like this site, nobody will stop you. So no matter what you do, you won't make people like this site if they don't want to. Again, Frothers does not have a 'war' with TMP. Some people there don't like it here, or have been banned in the past, the rest use both sites. End of story. Give it up and go back to painting toys, there is nothing to 'fix'.

Pointless

freewargamesrules07 May 2015 10:49 a.m. PST

LAF sticks only to wargaming and doesn't include the other drivel. Makes it the best forum around.

Cyrus the Great07 May 2015 11:48 a.m. PST

@Don kyoteblue,

There is no war between TMP and Frothers…Period. There is nothing to mediate. No other website is going to pursue this fool's errand! You can go on Frothers and post as a guest.

nevinsrip07 May 2015 11:50 a.m. PST

I was just trying by every means of opening a dialog between TMP and Frothers.

Why? You seem to be the only one obsessed with this.
Give it a rest. No one cares but you.

Winston Smith07 May 2015 12:18 p.m. PST

A dialog exists. Sort of.
They (or some of them) are exiles from TMP who maintain a TMP presence with sleeper accounts. They do not want peace, not that there is a war. They are amused.
They occasionally post here, stirring the Bleeped text .
I occasionally post there, stirring the Bleeped text if I can manage to post there. That's not very often. It annoys them when someone posts without logging in. I can manage to do that once a week.
I don't like them, they do not like TMP. No peace emissary will change that.

They adopt a holier than though attitude but even St Mac is insulting the editrices. I Iaugh at their hypocrisy.

Why anyone would want to mediate, or even thinks it's possible, is beyond me. No one is hurt by it. Give up.

Mako1107 May 2015 12:35 p.m. PST

I agree with nevinsrip.

It's a non-issue to me, and I suspect to most on TMP.

Earl of the North07 May 2015 12:47 p.m. PST

Did we (TMP) or Frothers become an organisation or a country when I wasn't looking?

It seems strange to hear that we need 'peace' talks between members of two websites, especially as many people on TMP seem to be also members of Frothers.

Will any dialogue change any of the facts, not really….a handful of Frothers dislike Bill (and or TMP) and a handful of TMPers dislike them back, frankly it is so massively unimportant I cannot see why you're spending so much time trying to force everybody to play nice. Aside from the occasional troll I would not even remember Frothers still exists.

Isn't there something more worthy, interesting or even fun you could be doing instead?

darthfozzywig07 May 2015 1:06 p.m. PST

How are folks wargaming the TMP-Frothers 15 clashes? Scale? Rules?

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut07 May 2015 1:22 p.m. PST

Don kyoteblue, you have embarked upon a noble endeavour that is close to your heart. There will be naysayers, there will be meddlers, there will be attackers. Do not let them stop you from this quest! In your soul you know you are right! Strap on your armor, heft your shiekd, grip your sword and persevere!

You alone can do it. There is no authority but yourself.

Tgerritsen Supporting Member of TMP07 May 2015 2:14 p.m. PST

Maybe if we exchanged prisoners?

Shinymelon07 May 2015 3:13 p.m. PST

It is not only the difference in English, but there is the fact that both TMP and Frothers users require a thick skin just for different reasons.

Just popping in to clarify. I'll stick with what's going on over there.

Delete my account now, Bill! It's the only way!

Just Jack Supporting Member of TMP07 May 2015 4:17 p.m. PST

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Our Peace Emissary insulted one of the aggrieved parties???

How insensitive, Kyote! The only solution is to now insult the other side, even up the score so to speak.

Don't worry, I'm still with ya ;)

V/R,
Jack

sneakgun07 May 2015 4:31 p.m. PST

LAF doesn't get inot politics they just play the gig man…..miniatures and their like.

Rebelyell200607 May 2015 4:36 p.m. PST

I still do not understand what you are trying to do.

Rebelyell200607 May 2015 4:59 p.m. PST

How would a "dialog" accomplish that? For that matter, what is a dialog and how does it apply to TMP?

Mako1107 May 2015 5:57 p.m. PST

This is the point where the quote from Aliens seems appropriate, "Nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure".

Frothers is pretty quiet these days (perhaps because the user account management code is broken!), although hilariously one the most active threads is the TMP one.

LAF just gets busier and busier though, possibly because they just do wargaming.

brunet08 May 2015 4:32 a.m. PST

yes, just a site where wargaming and wargaming posts are discussed.

JezEger08 May 2015 5:13 a.m. PST

"although hilariously one the most active threads is the TMP one."
Exactly. A thread started apparently by an advertiser on here using a false name and which is mainly added to by a few angry ex-members from here, who rarely if ever contribute to any other part of the site.
Once again, there is no war with Frothers, because there is no single identity that is Frothers, just as there is no identity that is TMP. Am I an advocate for killing civilians because some of the posters on the UM board think its the only way to wage war? Nope, and not all the people on Frothers hate TMP, or rather, the editor.
You may be happy to know I finished my dragoons, now I'm braving some British lace. I will look through this board to see if anyone has posted any useful tips on doing that, because this is why this site exists- for people who play with toy soldiers to discuss toy soldiers.

wminsing08 May 2015 8:10 a.m. PST

Yes, most of this 'war' is one group painting the entire other group with the same brush (which I will admit I myself have been guilty of).

John the OFM08 May 2015 8:16 a.m. PST

I for one will not participate in any peace talks.
St Mac has just gone off the rails in one of his patented gasbag non sequitur …. thingies.Encouraged by Kawabunga Sage dude. I cannot imagine what stretch of logic he uses to drag me into his self important bloviating. Unless he recognizes another self important bloviator. grin
As usual, they drag up earlier events from the infamous OFM-Dear Editor War of 2011 without having a clue what happened. I could "explain", but they are not worth working up a sweat on my typing fingers.
Contempt flows both ways, boys.

EDITOR: If I tell them where to go and what to do when they get there, could you issue a dispenstion to not bleep any text?
Miraculously, my Winston self was actually ABLE TO POST SOMETHING over there. The stars must have aligned.
