The Stars at War (formerly "the Abstract Campaign System") is a substantial revision to the rules set that was published in January, and includes functional integration to the tactical game. While The Stars at War is based around Squadron Strike, it can be adapted to a variety of tactical system.

Patrons can download it from the Starships 'R' Us Patreon at link You can become a Patron for as little as $1 USD a month, but we always hope that our Patrons get enough value that they'll pledge $5 USD a month so that their names appear on the Roll of Honor.

The main page for Starships 'R' Us is patreon.com/StarShipsRUs

Next month, we'll have an annex showing how to mix Full Thrust into a Stars at War campaign and a few sample "open play" maps scaled to print on 11x17 and be used locally.

Oddly enough, The Star at War is an expansion to Colonial Battlefleet, which also promised to include a campaign system. Sadly, it didn't, and I'm kinda miffed about that. Maybe yours will (a) deliver and (b) be usable with other rules.

Which game system(s) do you want to see supported?

I'm using Colonial Battlefleet, but I'm happy with systems where I can figure out mapping a point value from whatever system I'm using to yours.

AdAstraGames07 May 2015 12:21 p.m. PST

OK. Stars at War's mapping to point values is this:

1) There are Fleets, Grand Fleets and Bases.

2) A fleet is X points, a Grand Fleet is 2.5*X and a Base is 1.5 * X and must include an immobile unit (we call it a Fortress, use whatever unit your tactical engine of choice supports.)

3) Where you may want to put in more effort (or help us if you'd like to share the work) is mapping the technologies and weapon traits and tech levels of Colonial Battlefleet to RDPs. This is what we're currently doing for Full Thrust, and it's been illustrative. It's not required, however.

There are plenty of strategic layer purchases to make with the RDPs your in-game research produces and they're generic.

If you're jittery about the $5 USD, note that you can pledge to the Patreon and it won't charge you until June 1st. If this doesn't meet your needs, cancel before you're charged. (I have two 'patrons' who seem to do this every two months or so…)

I suspect you'll find enough there that you'll stick around…
