"Afghanistan 1878: Lieutenant MacKenzie of the 117th Infantry ("The Royal Mallows") has been dispatched with a patrol into the Chamla valley on the Northwest Frontier. In the valley there is a small abandoned outpost at the Multani crossroads. Orders are to investigate the outpost and ascertain whether or not it can be rebuilt and re-occupied." I had the chance to play a game of The Sword and the Flame recently and it was excellent. You can see some pictures and a fuller report here. link |

Hmmmm, so they challenged the locals to a game of???? Oh, you mean skirmish? Too much football on the mind, I think. Nice report. |

After 35 odd years of gaming, TSATF is still my favorite set of rules. Always a good game. That road is fresh kitty litter I trust. :) |

Welcome to the wonderful world of TSATF, and a fine job indeed on your first foray! Hope to read about and see pics of many further adventures of "The Royal Mallows" and their foes out on the frontier! |

Great stuff! I've always enjoyed your blog. You seem to enjoy the good things in life: fine spirits (liquid and convivial), good food, toy soldiers and (and this is crucial) the gentle art of pipe smoking; it is a formidable line-up. Like the poster above said, TSATF is a cracking game, and to this day remains my most played set of miniature rules. It almost never disappoints. May you have many more successful forays over the frontier in the future. |
