I'm almost halfway through my first force for Irregular Wars. I've been thumbing through the other lists and I'm pondering which companies out there make miniatures appropriate for the various New World and African tribal peoples from the period of first contact. Off the top of my head, I've come up with:

- plastic Zulu minis by Warlord to represent Tribal African List

- Copplestone's Tupi and Amazonian natives

- Wargames Factory plastic Woodland Indians (avoiding the arms carrying later period muskets)

- Does Foundry still carry its Aztec/Inca ranges?

That's all I know. I'm sure there must be more out there? Does anyone make miniatures suitable for the various Caribbean tribes? Pacific Islanders? Southern American tribes?

Eureka makes some very nice Tupi as well as Colonial Portuguese and Colonial Spanish. They also have Aztecs, Hawaiians and Maori, and a handful of Powhattan.

The nice thing about the Eureka Tupi is that they make the 3 different hairstyles favored by different Tupi tribes. Cobblestone Tupi do not have the correct hair for Tupi, but it is correct for Aimore or Tapuia tribes.

When you say Southern American, do you mean South American or Southern United States?

I meant Southern United States. Sorry about that.

Brigade Games also does Jivaro Indians.

The cannibals in the Old Glory Pirates range make cheap and fun South American/Caribbean Indians, if perhaps more Hollywood than historical (wearing grass skirts, festooned with shrunken heads, and some armed with blow-pipes).

Paymaster games does native Hawaiians, northwest coast Indians, and some cool Aztec stuff that's more Fantasy than historical.

Last time I checked Foundry's website they still had their Aztecs and Incas -- they used to have some nice Woodland Indians that would have worked for the 17th century. Not sure if they still have them.

Foundry is still making the 16th-17th century Woodland Indians. They're listed under Americana, somewhere.

Is there a commercial outlet for the Paymaster Games figures? I missed the latest Kickstarter, and would like to buy more of Marc's figuthat axabrax linked.

From the Lucid Eye link above:

This is a pack of 3 Jaguar Warriors from the Savage Core World. The warriors are based on the South American Huaxtecs ……….

The Huaxtecs were not South American. They were from Mexico and were contemporaneous with the Aztecs at the time of the European contact. Also, they did not have Jaguar Warriors.

Despite such niggling, they do seem to be nice figures and look stylistically like they would match the Hauxtecs from Outpost Wargames.
