Who would they negotiate with? Most of them don't care, it is just a few people who have their panties in a bunch because Bill banned them at some point in the past. |
Doctor X | 05 May 2015 9:01 p.m. PST |
I don't see what any of this will accomplish. As long as none of the paid employees on TMP spend any time on this I could care less. They need to focus on the site improvements that are in the works, which I believe is what a good chunk of the supporting member funds are earmarked for. I might support this if the person who does this agrees to only use the screen name "Neville Chamberlain" for the rest of his/her life. |

There is no "leadership" over there. All the TMP haters congregate on the " weird vibe" thread and they are unlikely to listen to a quixotic peace emissary. They want Dear Editor in Chief to admit he was wrong and apologize and make amends. How likely is that? Give it up. Accept your inability to join up and consider it an omen. |

Is this like a cage fight? Two enter only one leaves, and do Fight Club Rules apply? In which case we can't talk about it, because Rule #1. Am I right, or am I right? |

Err…..no. This is quite silly, I quite happily ignore the existence of Frothers, apart from when its brought up here……yes the childish trolling by some of their members is annoying, but lots of stuff in life is annoying. I'm unclear why any of this in any way impacts on my hobby or why we need to have a 'dialogue' because when it comes down to it, your talking about a handful of people on a couple of internet forums who don't like each other……big woop. |

I know Don stifled me, so won't read this … But regardless, I think most here agree. This appears to be an exercise in extreme futility. Who would they negotiate with? Most of them don't care … I don't see what any of this will accomplish. There is no "leadership" over there. All the TMP haters congregate on the " weird vibe" thread and they are unlikely to listen to a quixotic peace emissary.

Next time its raining, try going outside and having a dialogue with the rain about not being so wet….at least you'll get a free shower. |
The Virtual Armchair General | 06 May 2015 8:41 a.m. PST |
And, Jonathan, you will only be seen as a "Rudolf Hess" stand-in for "Fuhrer Bill." You'll be called a sign that Bill is afraid of them, wants peace at any price, and has sent you over as his secret emissary. This will make you look to be a fool and a tool, and will only bring more derision on Bill and TMP. I know you, Jonathan! You were not cut out to be the Christ-like bringer of Peace through your sacrifice. Your instincts are sound and to be encouraged, but NOT the act itself! And if "rapping" with the rain doesn't work as a metaphor, how about going out and standing in the middle of I-40 and offering your sincere wish that speed, weight, and momentum didn't have to add up to human road goo? For the good of all, and not least you, Your Old Friend, TVAG |

I'd recommend Churchill. His jowls could serve as a fallout shelter for a kindergarten. |

You lot sound like it is two separate communities, it is not. Many people who visit Frothers also come here, and LAF, and all the rest. There is no need for an 'go between'. Some people on Frothers don't like TMP, some on here don't like Frothers, who cares….? Just talk about toy soldiers and nobody has anything to troll about. Talking of which, back to gluing my Perry Naps together. Carry on everybody! |

Don, there are problems joining at the moment and the bloke with the keys is AWOL – even current members are at times unable to log in and have to post as guests – normally with their name and NLI next to it as the guest name – at the very least you could do this. I saw two new 'Welcome Don Kyoteblue' threads recently then someone asking for the keys to be able to let you in. On the plus side a lot of people are looking forward to you joining (in a positive way before someone suggests Don will just cop it – he'll cop some of the usual abuse just cos he's a new guy of course ) especially regards gaming chat and not just the whole us and them thing. Try the guest posting mate until someone finds the spare keys. |
Winston Smith | 06 May 2015 12:14 p.m. PST |
As JezEger said , it's only a few on either site that care. 99% of each are blissfully unaware that a "war" is going on. If you only pay attention to TMP Talk or the Weird Vibe thread over there you could assume that you are in London during the Blitz. Go on the AWI board here and there is no mention of Frothers. Or even Napoleonic Discussion! Don K, if I may be blunt, you care too much about unimportant stuff. There is no "war" and there is no need for a Teddy Roosevelt to mediate between Russia and Japan. There are maybe 5 TMP exiles who never left who do all the stirring over there and about the same number here who care. Why not save yourself some agita and pay no attention? It's not exactly saving pagan babies from being fed to volcano gods or curing Ebola. It's not worth the headaches. |
Winston Smith | 06 May 2015 12:15 p.m. PST |
And you don't have to join to watch the comedy. Just go there and go to the Froth Pot. No need to log in or create an account to watch the comedy or even to post. |
Oh Bugger | 06 May 2015 1:03 p.m. PST |
Well Don K if you are determined to proceed the man you need as your fellow interlocutor is Sane Max. There are some difficulties as he was booted out of TMP for pointing out another TMP chap was a card carrying Fascist which if irc was true but was deemed 'political' and therefore unacceptable in this parish. So if you want a go between I have no doubt he is your man not least because he was a Barman in Newcastle's Bigg Market where dipomacy is a pre requisite for survival. My suggestion of course may fall on the double barrier of Bill not wishing to re admit Sane Max and Sane Max not giving a . Never the less its sound enough and I do wish you well in your enteprise. Also Pat if you read this how you going kid? |
