Bushy Run Battlefield29 Apr 2015 8:48 a.m. PST

We will be opening the visitor center on Friday May 1st at 9 a.m.

The site will be open from that point on Wednesday-Saturday from 9 -5 and Sunday from noon-5.

The battlefield is located in Jeannette, Pa, about 40 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. It is accessible from Rt. 22, Rt. 30 and is not far from the PA turnpike.

At the site we offer either walking or golf cart guided tours of the battlefield as well as tours of the visitor center if visitors request them.

Admission is $5 USD for adults with discounted rates for seniors and children. Admission is free for members of the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society and active duty military personnel.

We have expanded the scope of our educational program to include more military history than just the battle as well as information about Native American culture and colonial culture of the period.

Also we will have our interactive diorama open so for those of you interested in gaming the Battle of Bushy Run the figures and terrain will be available for you to do so at the small cost of admission. All you would have to do is bring rules, tape measures and dice.

Wow looks great! Are the reenactors only there on May 1st? How about the gaming diorama? I'd like to visit, but I don't think we'll be able to make it until the 3rd at the earliest.

We have most of the reenactors come out for the battle reenactment in August. We usually have a couple around on any given day though and if they are here they do black powder demonstrations.

The gaming diorama is always here so if you come on the 3rd you will be able to play on it if you would like.

What unit is represented by the reenactors in the left foreground of the second photograph?

There was an article in Strategy and Tactics Magazine sometime ago, did anyone read it?

Bushy Run Battlefield30 Apr 2015 10:35 a.m. PST

I would guess that the regiment represented by the reenactors in the foreground is the 77th Highland regiment but it could also be a light infantry company of the 42nd.

All of the figures in the picture were painted by the museum facilitator at Bushy Run Battlefield.

I read the article in S&T. We have the magazine here at the battlefield.

The units firing are part of the 42nd, and the officer in the road (green cuffs – his name is Dan) is part of the 77th.

I thought the article was good. I like the part pertaining to the tactics and operational overview.
