If you are thinking about Old Glory 15s, this link might be useful. I have a good-sized Prussian army and did a full overview with pictures of everything I have -- which are all OG15s or Battle Honors. link |

Blue Moon 15mm/18mm (obtained through Old Glory 25s) has a large range of Prussians in the 1812-1815 period and a smaller range in the 1806 period. I haven't added any Blue Moon to my Napoleonics as yet but I have based my FIW collection on their figures and I like them. My Napoleonic collection was put together several years before Blue Moon came out with their 15mm/18mm range of figures so my Napoleonics are primarily Old Glory 15s (French and Austrians 1809 era), and I'm very happy with them. You can see what my Old Glory Napoleonics look like painted at link |

I am in the middle of building a late Prussian army. The bulk of it is OG 15s, with a mixture of ABs. This was mainly for cost reasons – there were some good offers on OG. The good news about OG is that their line infantry are good (especially the "defending" pose; "march attack" is OK; "advancing" a bit disappointing), and the Silesian landwehr (which can be used as general purpose landwehr) are full of character. I don't really rate the cavalry, except the landwehr cavalry (I have the ones in caps) – hussars and uhlans rather disappointing; dragoons OK-ish. Generals and command figures fine. Artillery crews OK, but the guns look wrong. All this means I have acquired quite a bit of lead I think is a little unsatisfactory, which undermined the value for money. AB figures are peerless but expensive, and quite compatible. The artillery pieces are especially nice, though the howitzer looks more like the 10pdr than the standard 7pdr, and the wheels are flat. Starting out again I would use more of AB in spite of the expense. Smaller pack size is a big help. For value for money options Blue Moon is well worth a look. I am moving to this range for my bulk needs rather than OG – with AB filling in the gaps. |

It may interest you that I am currently writing a second edition on the Prussian Landwehr which should be out by Christmas. Followed by second editions on the Prussian Infantry (Volume 1 & 2). Plus a new book on the Prussian Cavalry. These will be with a different publisher, Ken Trotman. Alas the first edition is very rare indeed. I only have one copy of these. Stephen |
