I'm looking for a few Sherman Tanks for my British 8th Army in North Africa, in 15mm. The ones from PSC look awesome but I have my doubts about something on them. The welded plating on the sides of them. link From what I remember about them, and I could be wrong, but the Shermans that the British received did not have the add on welded plates at first. So now would those in the link above be good for North Africa?? Thanks Doug |

For British Shermans in North Africa I believe you should be looking for the M4A1 with dust skirts and without the appliqué armor patches. |

Early deliveries were M4A1 cast hulls (Sherman II) with direct vision, no applique armor, many with M3 Style bogies and the narrow Gun Mount. The British also received numbers of M4A2 (Sherman III) also without applique armor and narrow gun mounts. Later deliveries included tanks with the more standard M4 (heavy duty) type bogies. |

I figured as much. Now, without having to get any BF Sherman's, who else makes 15mm Sherman tanks w/o the applique armour? |

Command Decision/Skytrex makes the British desert version. |

Gaming Models also makes the British desert version. He makes it in resin. I think his stuff is probably a little smaller than Command Decision and BF. That's my opinion… could be wrong since I've only purchase a few different types of vehicles from him not large numbers of different things. Each vehicle is $5. USD I tend to buy things from him that are unique such as the early Autoblinda with just machine guns, GM dump trucks, and US Shermans with air vent stacks on the rear deck for wading. I've been happy with what I've bought. I think he would tell you that it is made for gamers. |
