Since Musket Miniatures is transferring hands I wanted to buy out my Mexicans for the MAW. I know most battles were small but there are a few larger ones. Based on using FnF Regimental what do the members think I may need to purchase to cover most battles? |

I don't know anything about the rules, but some of the battles were fairly large. At Buena Vista the Mexicans fielded somewhere around 30 infantry battalions and close to 40 cavalry squadrons. At Cerro Gordo they fielded roughly 15 infantry units and a dozen cavalry units. The thing about the Mexican army is that at a particular battle the 1st Infantry Regiment may field 90 men while the 7th Reg't may field 600 men. For the large battles, you are looking at a combined arms force of 12,000-15,000 men. |

Take a look at my blog…I just posted orders of battle for Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma at 1:50, but the actual unit strengths are also given. RF&F is 1:40 so you will wind up needing more figures than I am using. And bear in mind that these are two of the smallest of battles, Scott's Campaign has much larger forces. foragecaps.blogspot.com |
