I decided some time ago to do unit labels when basing my SYW units. Here's what I do, what do you do?

The bottom label gives Inhabers and battle honours.

I hate basing, so when it comes time to do it I usually have a stack to do.

I usually base with Litko 3mm wood bases. I print the unit name on 8 pt font, cut it out and white glue to the rear of the base. These are 15mm:

Never mind the base labels Oli, those Austrians are beautiful, well done I'm envious:).
Cheers and te labels do give the unit a final touch of class too

Beautiful work on your figures, great idea for labeling.
I haven't done any labeling yet and was looking for ideas when you posted this, thanks!

Nice brushwork. And that is a great approach to labeling. I'm not a fan of having a big label on the top or side of a base---I understand the utility of it in certain rule sets, but it's not my cup of tea. This is a good way to subtly include a label.

I like the label as well, nicely done and non-intrusive. Personally, though I paint my units according to some specific regimental colors, my guys moonlight as whatever regiments I need, so this would not work for me alas. It does look nice though.

I also agree with Zargon, your painting is outstanding, and the figures are gorgeous!
