After being stuck in "development hell" with the rights going from Tobey Maguire to Leo DiCaprio, it may finally get "fast tracked":

Like the X-Files saying goes, "I want to believe…"

I would rather have no Robotech movie than a Leo DiCaprrio vehicle. My hatred for Hollywood has been on a Sith Master level since the abortion that was World War Z

Garand14 Apr 2015 10:56 a.m. PST

Meh. I hope that it goes forward and loosens the stranglehold Harmony Gold has, so that more official Macross material can get to the US.

Damon.

Is this the cross-over movie with the Southern guy who comes to your house, to remove unwanted creatures that have invaded, e.g. raccoons, snakes, squirrels, gators, snapping turtles, etc.

I believe he's trademarked the phrase "live action!".

If Di Crapio has anything to do with it, it's going to suck.

Well they noted that the writer for the classic GI Joe The Rise of Cobra is on this, so set your expectation levels accordingly.

Sounds like a cash in on the level of Battleship, another gem of Hollywood's golden age.

Geez why the Decaprio hate? He's been in some stinkers, but surely not in any greater proportion than most other hollywood actors.

Really a moot point now though, as it looks like no actors are being mentioned at this point by Sony who has taken over the project.

The Robotech of Wall Street?

Seems legit.

darthfozzywig14 Apr 2015 2:00 p.m. PST

Yeah, not getting the DiCaprio hate. He's a really good actor.

I won't hold my breath for a Robotech movie, but I'd love to see it happen.

DiCaprio doesn't do much for me, but he's been in plenty of good and often great films.

?

He's a bit old to be Fokker, but I could see it.

Sigh….. At least he probably won't be playing Capt/Adm Gloval. I hope.

It will only be good if Minmei gets fragged early on.

Preferably by a huge Zentraedi warship wreck landing on her.

She was the prototype Jar Jar Binks, I tell you.

NappyBuff14 Apr 2015 11:49 p.m. PST

Yep Jar Jar Minmei

darthfozzywig15 Apr 2015 12:08 p.m. PST

Yep Jar Jar Minmei

*snort*

Hah!

I have the 2-CD soundtrack from way back. I occasionally play a Minmei song to annoy my wife, but it's a desperate act given how painful it is for everyone. That girl HAD to have been some producer's niece or something. She's flat in every song.

"To be in loooove…"

Garand15 Apr 2015 1:11 p.m. PST

The music from Macross was soo much better…well except for the opening theme song…

Damon.

It is not going to look anything like the Robotech that you know of. Big West and Studio Nue have legally blocked Harmony Gold from using any likeness of their designs for the Macross mecha. Everything is going to have to be redone from scratch, so tell me what do you think of the 'Reseen' mechs from Battletech now? Expect stuff like that.

And Rebecca West (Minmei's English voice) has said she was very nervous about the singing and didn't feel comfortable doing it. Strangely, Micheal Bradley's singing as Yellow Dancer has held up well over the years.

Look up, look up the sky is falling….
