Play testing a few sets of rules for some 6mm Cold War action. Meanwhile the Bde HQ deploys in an industrial area care of Timecast and Leven buildings. The table from the Soviet end, Sovs on the start line but not actually deployed. A British Battle Group is deployed as a screen with TP/Plt groups deployed in the woods ready to move to fire positions. A Challenger/432 BG waits in a hide as reserve. Meanwhile Recce CVR(T) are now deployed in the route security/convoy escort role.

Great setup and looks like a fun skirmish to play. |

Great looking game, Nick! I especially like the slightly undulating terrain. Much better than the Ping-Pong table effect. Thanks for sharing your pics. Who makes the Evergreen Trees you are using? They look superb. |

The terrain is a 12 x 6 Mat O War from the Hobby Den over a number of hills. The ever green trees are from ebay, China I think. They are then mounted on Daz Clay. A number of rule sets, WRG, Tankwreck, Sabre Sqn to name a few, Tally Ho! |

Nickilnsomerset, Might I suggest that you make the village using more houses, say 10. As it stands you get lots of sight lines through the village with wide angles. With more houses some buildings will be invisible to AFV's outside the boundary of the village. This will give a more credible game with little extra effort. This will enhance you play test of the subject system. As an addition if you mark the house positions on a textured base it will look better and keep the relationship between the houses correct if you have to move then during the course of play. I do like the texture of the base cloth, what material is it? What is the ground scale of the game? |

Cheers UC, only one edge of town, the rest are farms. Essentially nothing can see through a built up area, bust! Everything is sparse for the moment as I am more concerned playing through the rules. – Hence no ground scale yet, however 1 veh = 1 veh and inf based in sections. The cloth is Mat O War from the Hobby Den in Northern Ireland and usually comes in 6 x 4 but on special request I had a 12 x 6, Tally Ho! |

Nickilnsomerset, You kind of need to know the ground scale so as to get the realistic spacing of critical linear obstacles like hedges. Norman bocarge has a spacing of about 10 hedges per mile ie about 170 yds apart or roughly 1/2 rifle range. In my area of UK, hedge spacing in the open areas is about 600 to 1000 yds and in the denser areas about 250 to 500 yds. This makes a he'll of a difference as to what vehicles as can traverse what terrain and how fast. Many sets of rules fail utterly to account for even vaguely realistic terrain and hence fail even before you get to the niceties of even command and control. Need to look at the mats. One in the colour of Hexon II with the hexes mapped would be the ultimate mapping and playing area. |

US, yes happy with that, although hedges not a major feature of the Hanover plain! The terrain in the area we worked was open, fields crossed by roads, usually with a ditch running parallel, farm complexes and woodland/forest, nothing at all like the UK or Normandy. Tally Ho! |

The first set I am going to try, when me Nassau are finished, was sent to me by Mark Bevis, still in draft form. Ground scale is 1mm=1metre, Tally Ho! |

20" per Km. is also a pretty decent option. |
