This is the 7th Scenario of our campaign Escort to Halberstadt, or the German version "Stefan must Die" and the US version "Almost got away"
This game we had three german gamers and Stefan flying the US.
The germans had 4 Me 110s and 4 ME109 the US should have had 4 P51s, however, the germans used the special campaing event, which cost them 2 victory points and forced on US plane home so now Stefan only had 3 planes.
The battle was on of survival for the Stefan he did have one veteran pilot which would be his only advantage. Stefan was closing on the Me 110s before the 4 109s which entered on turn 3.
One of the Me 110s took a long shot on a P51, he would hit on an 11 or 12, Michael rolled a hit and rolled 2 d20s and 2 d10s, Stefan managed to roll his robustness test so no hit, however, Stefan rolled doubles and a lucky hit resulted, the canon shell managed to hit the fuel tank, the plane disapeared in a cloud of black smoke.
Stefan gets a shot on a Me 110 and inflicts a damge, he also runs out of ammo, so the veteran pilot was on his way home.
A P51 is destoryed so now Stefan has two planes a Veteran with no ammo headed for home, and Stefans pilot who is too far from the safe side of the table. He is being chased by two ME 110s and a Me109, on the other side of the table two more Me110s and a 109 are now headed for Stefans remaining plane. He manages to get ahead
but makes bad mistake when he climbs to get out of the fire arc of his pursuers but looses all speed, allowing the good guys to catch up.
Now Stefan keeps talking about the one that getts away but is spending a lot of time trying to figure out a very very sepecial manuever to get away.
With three enemy planes on his tale and no options left, Stefan tries to a final diving manuever but to no avail, and his pilot dies trying to bail out.
The germans pull a head in the campaing with three wins vrs the 4 wins of the allies.
The next game will be the last one of the first of three series. I am painting more B17s, P51s, P47s and FW 190s. So we will have a little delay until we continue.
