John Dennett was one of my favorite sculptors when I was a kid buying Grenadier miniatures back in the 1980's. One of my goals when I started Forge of Ice was to have some work done by all of my favorite sculptors, and it's been a real treat for me to be able to get this sculpt from him – it's John's first new gaming-scale sculpt in 20 years!

This critter is a "Histath", a nomadic snakeman in my Lost World setting, Azor.

This figure measures approximately 29 mm from head to toe and 54 mm to the tip of his spear.

Hmmmm… pardon the clumsy formatting, it's been awhile since I've posted a photo here.

I expect to have the figure available for sale in June, and will someday have an entire tribe of these guys.

John Dennett was and is still one of my favorite miniature sculptors. I meet and spoke with him a number of times in my youth when I was becoming a budding sculptor and avid fantasy figure collector. I still have and treasure the "Terronis Queen of the Dragons" he gave me when I mentioned the one I had previously bought was missing a large section of its tail, and I was seeking advice on how to sculpt a replacement.
I don't expect he remembers me as I am sure he met thousands of folks at trade shows, but it would be really nice if you could encourage John to pop on this board. I am sure I am not the only admirer of his work who would love to chat with him and let him know he was missed. Very happy to see him back again. :)

Ooooo, that is really nice. I agree, a nice tribe of these would be really cool.

John has been absolutely stellar to deal with, it was great fun being able to talk with him on the phone about old Grenadier figures.

I couldn't be more pleased with the final result – I've forwarded this forum link to him, and he is on Facebook fairly regularly. He's friendly and approachable, and I know that he's been pleasantly surprised to find that people still remember his work so fondly.

He is an active member of the "Old School Miniatures" Facebook group:
