I've painted some Hot Wheels cars for "road warrior" games. I usually spray a coat or two of Testors Dullcote on my miniatures. However, I'm not sure what it might do to the windshields and other "glass" on the cars. Does anyone have any experience with this? |

It will frost the glass … you are better off using a blush-on clear flat like Vallejo makes. Or tape off the windows/clear parts before you spray. But that can be a real pain in the butt. |

What L4 said. You can also use latex rubber as a temp mask but that can be as finicky as taping. If you take the model apart you can remove the windows and replace with bug screen which adds a nice post-apoc look |

Has anyone tried "Pledge Future" to bring back the gloss. As A side note, I have a cheap clock at my painting table. After a few years the clear plactic face was clouded. Not much to lose so I brushed on some Future and now I can read the clock again. |

I routinely use Dullcote on my figures and then go back over the shiny bits with gloss coat to bring back the shine. Seems like future would also do the trick. I would of course test it on a car you don't care about… |

Masking with silly putty or poster putty would probably be easier than tape or liquid mask. A little fuzziness around the edges might actually look good. Rich |

That is another method, but it still can be a bit dicey ? I know in this case you can't. But it's always easier to put on windows, etc., after the Dullcote. And for putting the "shine" back, I like a brush on gloss paint better than Future. Just my personal choice. |
