Not sure if anyone has posted this but an interesting look at the refurbished Waterloo diorama at the Green Jackets Museum. I have seen this twice over the years and loved the use of so many Airfix miniatures. The last time I saw it I did notice it was getting pretty dirty and that was several decades ago now. Good to see it has had a new lease of life. Top marks to the conservators. link How dirty had it become… link Cheers Brian |

The cleaning of the diorama has reminded me of clearing my recently deceased best friends loft and his wargames collections therein. Dust, cobwebs, dead spiders and wasps, pigeon feathers, several thousand figures all in open topped boxes. Took forever. |

I've seen it before but I'll be in the area this weekend so I plan to drop in and see the restoration. Going by those pictures it should be quite a revelation from the way it used to be! |

It's great to look at the pictures and play spot the Airfix figure. They have even used Big John Cannon and Victoria from the High Chaparral set. |

nice! while it may have already been posted on another group, I missed it. I appreciate you posting it. Why is there a separate "napoleonic gallery" board? too many boards… |

Great to see this. I visited the the RGJ Museum about a year ago, expressly to photograph it. It had some new/repainted (?) figures on it, but much of it was quite dusty. I wonder if the Thatchers (the conservators) were already working on it at that point? Have a look at my pics if you're interested: RGJ Waterloo diorama – pre refurb? I'll have to revisit it I think! |
