"Napoleon has humbugged me, by God!"

Thus exclaimed – the Duke of Wellington, June 1815, when he realized that Napoleon had opened the Hundred Days campaign by positioning himself between the Prussian and Anglo-English armies.

Everything is all set for us to run this unique event at a great gaming venue in Manchester (about 10 miles East of Hartford, CT along I-84).

The more players we have (up to 16 to 18), the better it will be. So, if you'd like to be part of it, clear the date and let me know that you'll attend at the email address below:

Overall map for the campaign is from the Board game Napoleon by Columbia games

picture

This has been divided in to eleven 4 x 6 tables, which the various forces will maneuver and fight over, under the direction and orders of their player C--n-C's. The setup and play creates considerable fog of war as the situation and maneuvers reveal themselves as the event unfolds. Movement and Combat is by the Snappy Nappy rules, which were designed with this sort of event in mind.

For an idea how this all works, here's how the tables integrated and the maneuvers played out for our 1813 event a few years ago

picture

The tables are a bit more detailed for this event if anything.

Here's the OOB for the event (the troops are liosted in bases – a unit is 2 bases for infantry and cavalry, one for artillery).

The troops are all done, the table layouts and theater maps set. Hope to see some of you there!

Sorry for the double post – the server claimed the other title was invalid – but then posted it anyway!

Looking grand Gonsalvo aka Peter. The best and player fun results for your campaign scenario. The Snappy Nappy rules are very similar to our group's rules using the small miniature sized units. Couldn't do that type of gaming with the "in fashion" BP set.

Looks like a lot of fun Peter, wish I could be there.

This is tempting. : )

Great job, should be a very exciting event.

Thanks, guys, we're looking forward to it!

BP is a fine set, and accomplishes what it sets out to do, I think. It can be used with smaller units (I think big unit games look great, but they have their drawbacks as well – I prefer smaller units myself), but wouldn't be suitable for an event like this regardless – nor would my own favorite Field of Battle, 2nd edition. Snappy Nappy was designed in part with this kind of event in mind.

GP – are you anywhere in Southern New England/Northern New Jersey/Southwestern NY state? The venue is within 2-3 hrs drive of anywhere within those parameters, a short distance off of Interstate 84.

Are the rules easy to pick up on the fly?

Gonsalvo08 Apr 2015 8:02 p.m. PST

I would say they are very easy to pick up. The Katzbach game had 8 players, of whom 2 had played twice before, 1 had read the rules but never played, and the other 5 players were completely unfamiliar with the rules.

Looks like its a go for me. With the start time at 10am, is it helpful to arrive as early as 9am?
