China issued the U.S. a warning not to interfere with its relationship with Taiwan following the Wednesday emergency landing of two Marine strike fighters in Taiwan.

During a Thursday press conference, a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman said China had expressed concern over the emergency landing to the U.S.

"We have taken note of the relevant report, and have lodged solemn representations with the U.S. side," spokeswoman Hua Chunying said, according to a transcript of the presser.
"China urges the US to abide by the one China policy and the principles enshrined in the three joint communiqués between China and the U.S., prudently and properly handle relevant issues and prevent similar case from emerging again."..

Did they want them to land on mainland China? I'm sure they would be quite willing to make any repairs and accommodate the pilots no matter how long it took.

There was a time when America would tell other countries to "go pound salt".

'Bout time we went back to that attitude.

Yeah, Deleted by Moderator

You want to go tell foreigners to go pound salt, you go ahead and do it yourself, and leave the the rest of us alone.

Why should the USA have to apologize to China for making an emergency landing of 2 airplanes?

Plenty of salt left for you.

We have taken note of the "solemn representations" of the Chinese government… And will give them all the consideration such communications warrant…

Very-very intense relations between those two nations.
If there is one thing that can certainly trigger China;
Formosa!

All this deserves in reply is a copy of the international laws of the sea and air, with the section that says, "anyone in receipt of a distress message is to immediately and without question offer any and all assistance available" highlighted.

And then a pointed question as to whether China would like every other nation on earth to honor the distress calls of Chinese aircraft should they find themselves in trouble.

(About like the question asked of DeGaull when he was saber-rattling about not wanting any US soldiers in France: Does that include the 65,000 soldiers in American cemeteries?)

"There was a time when America would tell other countries to 'go pound salt'".

Nowadays, specially when it comes to China … It's more like "sorry for being such a horrible country. Now, would you like me to bend over and pick up the soap?"
