Finally decided to start work on boh my 15mm and 28mm Hungarians. I'm starting to source 28mm miniatures to use for WW2 Hungarians for a "Siege of Budapest" force.

I decided to mostly use WW1-era Austrians for light/mountain troops and Late War Germans for regular Honvedseq. I'm interested in the Brigade Games Austrian Light Infantry and Great War minis LW Germans. Does anyone have both and can tell me if they look OK together?

(Would also appreciate any other recommendations anyone can give me for troops. Thanks!)

Sorry if the title wasn't clear.

I'm looking for size comparisons between Brigade Austrians and Great War Germans…

IMO the Great War figures are on the large side.

If I were doing it, I'd use Warlord Games plastic late war WW2 Germans for my Hungarian base figures, especially if you're doing winter '44/Siege of Budapest. The oft-cited Mollo illustration of a Hungarian soldier in puttees is not actually very representative. Here's a very good article on proxying the Royal Hungarian Army in winter uniform: link

To be fair in 15mm, you can get away with quite a bit more :)

@Jeff: Yes, mixing Brigade and Great War would be too different.

Any idea how well Great War mixes with BTD/Artizan?

I did this in 20mm and used ww1 germans.

Sacrab do ww1 late war Austrian stormtroopers. They might be useful?

Hi all,

Yourbitterpill, good to see someone else doing Hungarians. I have them as one of my FoW armies. I wanted to do them in 28mm for BA, I am actually using the Finns metals from Warlords. The uniform is very very similar. I file off the little bolts from the Finn helmets. Hungarians didn't carry a lot of gear so the Finns match very well. No Ski troops, just the regular section, command and heavy weapons. pak 40. I swapped the mAxim style HMG for an MG 42 on a tripod mount.

Cheers,

Scott
