…Typhoon-K vehicles. "The newest armored high security Typhoon-K vehicles manufactured by KAMAZ will participate in the Victory Parade in the Red Square on May 9. Typhoon-K will be competing for State purchase contracts with the armored vehicle produced by the Ural automobile plant. The Russian army may accept both armored vehicles. Both vehicles represent a new type of military land transport for the Russian army. It's neither an armored personnel carrier, nor a military truck. In the West, these vehicles are called MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles). They are not present in the zone of active fire – they just deliver troops to the border of battle fields, but there are strict requirements to these vehicles. They must withstand 7.62 mm incendiary bullet shots from Dragunov sniper rifles and large-caliber machine guns. The passenger capsule for both Typhoons is capable of withstanding a mine or torpedo explosion of at least 8 kg TNT. Its modular architecture makes it possible to use vehicles for transporting soldiers and setting various modules – medical, HQ, multiple launch rocket system and others. Depending on the modification, it is possible to install a remotely operated machine gun on the roof of the vehicle…"
