"Arab leaders at a summit in Egypt will announce the formation of a unified regional force to counter growing security threats, according to a draft of the final communique, as conflicts rage from Yemen to Libya. The summit will also call on Iranian-allied Houthi fighters, who have made rapid advances in Yemen, to leave that country's capital and hand over their arms to "legitimate" authorities, said the draft, obtained by Reuters. Working out the mechanism and logistics of the unified force, an idea floated by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, could take months. Previous similar schemes have failed to produce tangible results in the divided Arab world…"

Unified and Arab are not two words I would normally expect to hear together but who knows, maybe they can pull it off!

I dont think it'll ever happen, at least not as an army with full league participation and unified command. Doesnt mean that countries in the Arab League cant fight. Each successive Arab-Isreali War has had the League come closer to overwhelming Isreal. Now that several of their armies are American equipped and trained, they will bring more fight to the game. |

Dream on if you think these guys can fight. If it ain't in the script all action comes to a stop. No officers and no NCOs with any initiative. Phantom Soldiers on the books that officers collect their paycheck. Equipment and fuel sold illegally. No interaction between officers and enlisted. |

I hope that some sort of Arab "Coalition" can come about, so to speak. But based on the past going back to after WWI … or even longer. I have serious doubts this may happen. But they do have a bit of a different situation in this case. And what may come down to a final islamic/moslem civil war. Which appears to be a long time in coming … IMO, it really is going to be crap shoot … rolls of the dice … |
