I was recently shown a review of Dark Swords Game of Throne figures, I think it was in Miniature Wargames Magazine i dont know which one, which in my opinion was quite trite and ill informed. I have been purchasing these mini's for the last 5 years and as far as I'm concerned they rank well up there in both casting and sculpting (Tom Meier and Jeff Grace). Two glaringly obvious facts the reviewer was not aware of 1) These models are based on the book descriptions of the characters not the TV versions and have been OK'd by GRRM himself 2) The range isn't really for building armies and war gaming, it was for painting and collecting the characters from the book. If the reviewer was taking a gaming perspective of the figures perhaps he or she should have done a bit of research on the figures first. Definitely worth checking out as are a lot of Dark Sword mini's, by the way they are great for DnD characters Anyway that's my thoughts this might help put it in perspective follow the utube link to see GRRM talking about his minis collection, tons of stuff. youtube YouTube link facebook Jen Haley one of the painters of GRRM's collection of DS GoT collection link |

The miniatures are fantastic re: quality and correct look. They have made some "packs" of Night Watch which can be used to build "armies". Major draw back is size much bigger than any 28mm line. So you can't supplement with other figures to round out armies. Real pity. If only the company would make figures in a compatible size, I'm sure gamers would grab plenty. Not making them in the correct "gamer" size is one of the weirdest marketing decsions of all time. TomT |
