Just painted this unit this week, and it made a successful charge in today's game.
The grey uniform is relatively unique to the Pomeranian Landwehr; the white facings are the Provincial color.
The flag is a larger version of a variant Lance pennon used by some Pomeranian units. More on my blog at: link Peter |

They look great! I've got the same unit in Calpe to paint, thanks for the tip on paints. I have both Hippo Grey and Charcoal. I may paint my saddle edges white just to see how they look. |

Thanks! Pants are Dolphin Grey :-) You can get a pretty good idea how they'll m\look with white borders/wolve's teeth from the Cent Jours site's illustrations of the Regiment… I think they have the saddle blankets grey edged in white, – even more drab! |

Ah… Dolphin grey, thanks. My only complaint with Ceramcoat is that they have discontinued my favorite grey, Storm Grey. I use this one for all kinds of things. |

I looked at the Mont St Jean, website and yes, you are correct the white edging does look drab. I did find a figures for the 3rd Silesian Landwehr Regiment. link The Foundry Austrian Uhlan figure is almost identical to this uniform. The jacket is a tad shorter and has a double row of buttons, and the shoulder boards have a fringe but otherwise it is the same. Czapka is identical. link Thoughts? |

Interestingly, never heard of Storm Grey in the 20+ years I have been using the brand! Hippo Grey, Cadet Grey, Dolphin Grey, Payne's Grey, Charcoal, and Wedgewood blue The white edging wouldn't be as bad on a BLACK saddle blanket or sheepskin – and it you don't like it, the white first coat will make red painted over it really pop! BTW, the unit performed well at their Debut game this weekend! |

The Austrian Uhlans are passably close. The (3rd Silesian landwehr cav) uniform looks closest to the Prussian Guard Uhlan one, but I don't know if anyone makes figures for them – IIRC, there was only a single squadron |

Peter, Another good looking unit and glad to hear they performed well on their first foray into battle. John |

Your unit went totally against the newly painted losing myth! Excellent, it has already started a glorious history. On another thread one TMP'r painted small medals on the officer for successfull actions. You could put a small cross or dot on their lance pennons? |

The Mont St Jean website has all four squadron's in the lancers type uniform, is it incorrect? |

Even raw LW Cavalry can perform well when they get to charge an unprotected flank! :-) |

There were as many as 17 regiments of Silesian LW cavalry, with many variations likely, at least by regiment. The Mont St. Jean site shows Regts #1 and #2 in more or less regulation dress. Other units, at least in 1813, were known to have white sheepskins and cloaks. I did one unit of mine like that, and wearing the schirmutz. For even more drilled down detail, we'd need Dr Summerfeild's book. |
