I've just posted a short report of the Battle of Actium played at my place on Wednesday night and a bit about the madness of hexing tables by hand.

The hexes look good and are a job well worth doing …… though your back may not think so!

Lovely ships!

Instead of drawing the entire hexagon, why not just mark the corners?

Yup – marking the corners is the way to go (love my Litko templates).

Nice. Those ships are fantastic. Nice big open sea.

Litko.

Unfortunately, I needed a line length of 4cm, a hex of 7cm across flats. Litko doesn't make this size, so it was never an option. Once you are past the 'corners only template' lines become the easier option. Also, although I wouldn't mind a 'perfect' template, the one I made didn't cost forty bucks, it cost me nothing. I'll use it for this job and then I will not require it any more; Hey ho.

There is that. Litko will make you pretty much any template you might desire, but it might not be as quick as you need it, or as cheap as you want it, especially if you're only going to be using it the once.
