Thanks :-D @ MajorB. Thick Card. Cut into strips, then short pieces bent over a marker pen tube (to give them all the same curvature)and then cut to the same lengths. Then two were laid side by side to form the spring and a dab of PVA added each end. When that had dried I dripped a bit of Revell liquid glue along the sides. It soaks in and "plastified" the Card a bit which gave it more strength. The 3/4 springs at the back took a bit longer, more shaping to get them looking right, but still made from Card. Basically they are "oversprung" and get Held in the final shape under a Thing called a "dumb iron/Spring pin", on the model, a short length of wire coming out of the back of the cab, not clear in the pre-paint pic (IŽll make more pics for the next one) I used this This Diagramm to get the Basic design ideas (I ignored the mess of Suspension under the Drivers seat). link |
