Hmm .. if the Romans failed in their conquest of these sceptred isles then you can't really call it Britain (Britannia) as that was the Roman province… so were they Britons that defeated these upstart Romans or just another bunch of Celts? |

Britannia was the Latin pronunciation of the 'local' name of the islands, possibly something like 'Prytain' or 'Prydain'. The earlier Greek geographers actually gave it the classical name. |
