Now this is odd. Just this morning the good Tango01 posted some pictures of the new Perry diorama figures seizing the eagles. Led to some comment and I asked about the flags shown (pre 1815 GMB?). Now it has disappeared. All very sinister. We do hear about surveillance from on high these days and, normally, I would welcome that……….. |
HistoryPhD | 26 Mar 2015 6:48 a.m. PST |
I think our dear editor removes posts Tango makes about something that is on the banner right above the post |
deadhead | 26 Mar 2015 7:01 a.m. PST |
You may well be right. I know he does do duplicates, all too often, but this never appeared on the Nap Message boards and I would have missed it completely. Others replied in the same vein……… Is it not worth tolerating the excessive posting, in exchange for what he does come up with, that has novelty? A rhetorical question…. |
Doug em4miniatures | 26 Mar 2015 7:29 a.m. PST |
Do you mean this: TMP link a news story posted yesterday and still prominent. Doug |
ochoin | 26 Mar 2015 7:33 a.m. PST |
Is it not worth tolerating the excessive posting? A rhetorical question…. A not-so rhetorical answer: yes. |
IUsedToBeSomeone | 26 Mar 2015 8:30 a.m. PST |
The fact that Tango posts details about News items that are at the top of the page confirms my theory that he is a "write-only" member of the TMP community…. I'm glad of the ignore function. Mike |
deadhead | 26 Mar 2015 8:40 a.m. PST |
Doug, that is indeed the content, but it was only posted on the Hobby news page by the Perrys (oddly, may have intended to crosspost). Tango reposted it…got some responses….and seems to have been censored. I can well imagine many will use the "ignore", but I have to say I find much of what he posts useful and will forgive the occasional repetition of earlier offerings from others and I'll ask again (third time lucky). The GMB flags look different to mine, which were sold as 1815. Mine have gold fringes and different lettering style. Are those shown from pre First Restoration? |
MH Dee | 26 Mar 2015 9:55 a.m. PST |
Well, I'm personally glad that he posted a news story about the major BA release Ostfront two weeks after I had purchased it from my local store. |
John the OFM | 26 Mar 2015 10:51 a.m. PST |
Nothing better to complain about? I guess your life is perfect. Dear Editor in Chief has fixed things so you don't have to see his posts on the front page. You can increase the topics viewed to 400. You can IGNORE him so his posts don't pop up. (Winston has done that on our cell phone. I have not on my desktop.) If his messages appear on the various Boards and that upsets you, well that's just too damn bad. Here's a hankie. Now blow softly, you don't want to block things up. |
Tango01 | 26 Mar 2015 11:01 a.m. PST |
When people complain (my dear friend Dico Joe?) Bill removes it. Sometimes he does because the next day it would appear the same thread in the hobbie news(early form). Apparently this upset certain people (known ones)so he don't take into account those (like me) who do not visit the page of news and prefers the forums. In honor of the truth, there were 49 times that I show "repeats" but I have never "copied" a new release from the main page, it was always by chance or advance as I have explained above. Compared with almost 58,000 theads that I have contributed to the site … does not seem a relevant number. Also I apologize for those mistakes even when I consider them as valid threads. Amicalement Armand |
HistoryPhD | 26 Mar 2015 11:04 a.m. PST |
Well, no matter whether one is pro- or anti-Tango, the Editor has spoken in this instance, so nothing more to see here. Move along. Return to your homes and go about your daily business…. |
Marc the plastics fan | 26 Mar 2015 11:08 a.m. PST |
A strange result and tmp is duller as a result. I had posted to that thread |
David Manley | 26 Mar 2015 11:59 a.m. PST |
Are you sure it's only 58,000? :) |
Doug em4miniatures | 26 Mar 2015 12:42 p.m. PST |
Nothing better to complain about? I guess your life is perfect. Gosh – so much angst; had a bad day? I don't really see any complaints on this thread. Doug |
Lion in the Stars | 26 Mar 2015 12:47 p.m. PST |
Since I generally ignore the TMP News feeds unless something shows up on the top 20 of the front page, Tango has been quite useful for finding things. I wish he'd post more pics of his own games, though! |
Broglie | 26 Mar 2015 1:03 p.m. PST |
I find myself agreeing with John the OFM again. I love the Ignore and the Stifle function. I enjoy the TMP page without the angst. |
KaweWeissiZadeh | 26 Mar 2015 1:14 p.m. PST |
*shrugs* lots of sites have 'news dogs' and I like every single one of them. Very useful service and it keeps the fora going. |
Marc the plastics fan | 26 Mar 2015 1:16 p.m. PST |
Sorry Doug – you must have missed my tone. I am complaining that the original thread was nuked. Is that clear enough for you? |
deadhead | 26 Mar 2015 1:17 p.m. PST |
I have to admit, in the infinity of the cosmos, when the news programmes today suggest the world has gone mad, does any of this really matter? I cannot understand why this posting was suppressed. We have seen many a duplicate and, if we choose, we can ignore it. I guess, if the original was your's, you will feel hijacked. But the chances are that your original is now obsolete and forgotten. But this one did not appear on the Napoleonic message boards. I found it very useful and responded. I wonder if the Perrys got that "Timed Out Waiting for Lock" message and could not cross post? What the heck does that mean anyway? |
Doug em4miniatures | 26 Mar 2015 1:25 p.m. PST |
Marc I wasn't referring to your post. Doug |
xxxxxxx | 26 Mar 2015 1:31 p.m. PST |
I am so confused (pretty much as usual). There is a problem if a "News" item is brought up for discussion as a "Thread" ? As far as it seemed to me, Tango started the "Thread" to obtain feedback and comment on the new models mentioned in the "News" item. I was reading Deadhead's and Marc's comments on that thread : both are more "Waterloo specialist" than I am, so I was quite interested in their comments and discussion. Was the issue one of conflict of interest (e.g. Tango works for the maker of the models)? Or, was the issue that it is not polite to start a "Thread" that might become too critical of a company who announced "News" (or advertised?) here? Or was it wrong to make a "Discussion Message Board" topic in addition to a "Product Reviews Message Board" topic? Or something else? I will be honest – I could easily have done exactly what Tango did, hoping for the comments of the colleagues here. So, I suppose I should find out what was wrong to avoid making the same mistake. I am sorry if I am being clueless. - Sasha P.S. – I never see third-party hosted content due to browser security settings (pretty typical these days). So, I don't think I ever saw any banner, just a "News" item on the homepage. |
VonBlucher | 26 Mar 2015 1:51 p.m. PST |
Sasha, That was a good summation of what some of us feel. In this case Tango's submission was within minutes of the news feed and as I was trolling the Nap boards I saw his thread first. I also disagree with Bill nuking the thread as I was also following the postings being placed within it. John |
deadhead | 26 Mar 2015 1:54 p.m. PST |
Sasha….can I just second your confusion? I cannot see why this posting was different to countless others. It was actually very useful in showing a really exciting and much awaited series of releases, that I think were wrongly posted by the makers, without cross posting. What possible harm could result? There is no plagiarism. He is making no claim to any authorship. Aux armes vous cityoens. Aux Barricades! Hasta La Victoria Siempre! It is better to live on your knees than to die on your knees or feet…or is that the other way around? |
ochoin | 26 Mar 2015 4:34 p.m. PST |
One of the many things I like about Armand is that he apologizes even when his "mistake" is minor or non-existent. He's a good person. |
seldonH | 26 Mar 2015 5:24 p.m. PST |
Certainly nobody can accuse him of being a ….. "lurker" :) |
Ivan DBA | 26 Mar 2015 10:23 p.m. PST |
Let Tango post! Now that we have the Ignore function, what's the harm? |
forwardmarchstudios | 26 Mar 2015 10:36 p.m. PST |
I dig Tango. Let him post! Hey Tango, are you in Latin America? I thought you used to be in Italy? Anyways you've posted some interesting stuff I wouldn't have caught, so keep it up! Plus at this point you're basically a TMP institution. |
Tango01 | 26 Mar 2015 11:40 p.m. PST |
Thanks for your kindly words my friends! (smile) I live in South America (Argentina) my friend, but I travell a LOT every day, every time. I'm CEO from a Commercial Group at the head of Foreign Commerce. I have to managed many branchs and made business. Amicalement Armand |

There is a problem if a "News" item is brought up for discussion as a "Thread" ? Every News item has a discussion thread already "built in". For example: TMP link |
Maxshadow | 27 Mar 2015 2:49 a.m. PST |
Tango your a true Gentleman and you dig up some very interesting posts. |
Eclipsing Binaries | 27 Mar 2015 3:25 a.m. PST |
I sometimes come on to see if there are any new posts on the Napoleonic threads and there are times that there is nothing new. Tango keeps the board busy, even if sometimes there ends up being duplicate threads… what's the worst that happens then? Someones figures or game get more views? A company's product gets more exposure? I'm more upset he never posts up my stuff. :( Tango, keep posting. |
deadhead | 27 Mar 2015 3:37 a.m. PST |
Can Binaries eclipse? A star in front of a star is as bright as…a star……great name though. Give us a link to your work! Tango, note the interest this has stirred up…….they love you or hate you (or they "Ignore") Did you know you had such a fan club? |
stoneman1810 | 27 Mar 2015 6:34 a.m. PST |
I have always liked his posts. He comes up with some really unusual stuff and some great painting/dioramas. |
Eclipsing Binaries | 27 Mar 2015 10:27 a.m. PST |
Eclipsing Binaries is a scifi novel from EE Doc Smith. I was in a 15mm scifi thang when I set up the account, hance the name. Maybe we should start a new thread… "What our weird TMP names mean!"? |
Tango01 | 27 Mar 2015 10:27 a.m. PST |
Not really my friend and I have to said thanks to all! (smile) I only want to share what I consider of possible interest. Not more, not less. Some people don't like it and they have the right to "Ignore" me. They don't have the right to attack me or snippe my threads. Thanks again. Amicalement Armand |
pbishop12 | 27 Mar 2015 4:01 p.m. PST |
I'm in Tango's court. Every time I see one of his postings, I'm certain it will be unique and interesting. Keep them coming Tango…. |

Editor in Chief Bill | 28 Mar 2015 12:17 p.m. PST |
Current TMP policy is to nuke a topic if it is a duplicate of a current Hobby News story. If you wish to change the policy, ask for a poll and we'll take a vote. I'm flexible… |
deadhead | 28 Mar 2015 1:35 p.m. PST |
I married a girl that. Flexible……but she ran off with the bloke down the road and took me to the cleaners…….(our US cousins may not follow that expression)……worse she accused me of all sorts of indiscretions prior to that. Made out it was all my fault! Not a word of truth in it……. All I can say is that I am totally IT naive and, without Tango's posting I would have missed this. Up to you. There may be more to this commercially than I understand. You run a brilliant forum and I suspect you know what you are doing! |
Milhouse | 28 Mar 2015 6:18 p.m. PST |
Im cool with Tango's posts. Stuff in my scale I'd otherwise miss |
Tango01 | 29 Mar 2015 3:04 p.m. PST |
Your policy is right Bill. Not need a Poll. I have to paid more attention. Age and time don't help me! (smile) Amicalement Armand |

Hi deadhead The flags in the Perries photos are very old 2001 version of the 1815 flags – I was surprised to see them… My ( much better) newer versions – are now about 4 years old. They are a bit smaller and daintier with crisper details… …and a fringe. A French customer had been campaigning for the fringe – I finally gave in. Grahame GMB |
