Awesome game mat…..why not go all the way with it and add more detail to the land portion….jungle, roads, towns, etc. This way it will appeal to both naval, air, and land wargamers. You could use 1/600 armor and aircraft. I f there was more land detail, I would buy one for sure and do a Land, Sea, Air Campaign.

Nice work!

WRT the map, it looks like about 5,000 yards per hex, which is relatively small-scale for a naval game map. Does this work well with the rules set(s) you use?

That's a great looking mat.

Love those Italian ships too. Those barber-pole deck paintjobs are really great looking.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

@JasonAfrika – good idea! if you look below "Guadalcanal" you will see what I intended to be "jungle" so it's doable… same with villages and roads (although did Guadalcanal have many roads???)

@Mark – Does it work well for my rules? Yes :) But then again, I play basic War at Sea rules (Axis and Allies miniatures) with my son who is 9. I have not tried any other rules like VAS… sounds like it might prove difficult?

Beautiful work Tanner – really lovely!

Re VaS – I play it with my 7 year old son and the mechanics are really easy to understand. My only problem is that he keeps beating me.

Here's an AAR with some observations on VaS…
