I am running a game at a local con very soon and I was looking for a few ideas on scenario objectives. I have some ideas, I am looking to fill them out. Here is the situation: Rules: DMH Gangs: Apaches, Lawmen, Desperados Scene: A good sized town – think all of the 4Ground buildings plus a couple. I need a 'public' objective and a 'secret' objective for each gang. There will be a points value for accomplishing the objectives. I should note that points will be scored for general kills, so that would not be a gang-specific objective. Thanks for your help. |

Find the deck of marked cards in the saloon as proof the deputy was cheating. Find the hidden stash of 'firewater' Plant evidence on a member of the desperadoes gang as 'proof' of murder. Destroy the equipment in the telegraph office to keep bounty information from reaching the town about a recent crime in another city. Steal the plats of survey from the Assayers office so you can claim the mining rights on the property over yonder. Grab all the confiscated firearms from the jail to arm the tribe/gang. |

Tongue and cheek objectives or serious. Some designers like either one. Fun beer and pretzels or a serious competitions. Old Western movies provide some nice scenarios and objectives. One that comes to mind is the movie where a Union force and a Confederate force have to band together to fight off the Apaches on a mountain. Joining together for survival plots are common in movies of the 1950s. Apace objectives would be to burn a certain building in town as a secret objective and to kill as many whites as possible for the overt objective. A significant building to control for the Desperadoes. No all of the significant money was in the bank. Some businesses such as a cattlemen's association or an assayers office would hold money as would a saloon. An overt objective may be to get some cattle or horses. Lawmen. protection is the common objective. Killing certain enemy characters another. One law scenario which I do not see enough is when rival lawmen fight, such as the sheriff vs the Marshall band. |

The Apache can sneak into town to steal horses, women, food, etc. Maybe burn a building or two. They can also try and free a captured comrade who is being held in jail while awaiting the arrival of a cavalry patrol. |

I have played DMH only once so I am not sure how objectives work other than what was in that game (it was basically kill the other guys), but I did run a game with my homemade rules loosely based on a portion of the film Major Dundee. You can modify to your teams, but I had Dundee and crew in a Mexican town, protecting the townsfolk. Indians attacking the town to get supplies, but trying to avoid Dundee (obviously Dundee was trying to kill them), French (in this case could be your Desperados) returning to the town to retake their casa's (after Dundee kicked them out). I had points for individual supply elements, characters killed/alive etc. and basically it was spread out across the game table as elements came in from different directions. The Dundee character was a stud and gave bonuses but a number of the characters were pretty normal. Played it at Historicon last year and it went pretty well. The main advantage is that you may be able to give context to your scenario if people are familiar with the movie. |

There is a rumor going around the territory that there is something very valuable in the town but your gangs don't know what it is. So rather than just go into town and steal something. They need to "question" the locals. Answers can be randomly generated by cards. let them figure out what they need to steal. If they get it and get back to their starting point they win. Alternate: have several valuable unknowns. Richest outlaw wins. What is valuable? A pair of prime Texas Longhorn breeding stock. A white stallion breeder. A European monarch (male or femail) in disguise. a crumped piece of paper dropped by an inventor with a sure-fire money making invention. Miners with a map of the mother lode (and no claim to back it up). |
