Hiya Guys, Been working on some swamps recently, first set were more muddy ground, so I did this one just to have a more stylised wargaming swamp ….

Awesome swamp, and excellent tutotial as usual, Mel! I have been planning and building a big Afghan marsh/swamp terrain-piece for an 1879 Second Afghan War historical battle refight, set in an area South of Kabul that I've been studying via Google Earth for way too long. My idea for this terrain piece started as a "scatter" swamp area like yours, which I would just lay out on the tabletop, then graduated to a "bespoke" terrain-board, since the layout it will be part of includes two rivers boards, both of which are dug below the surface of the tabletop. I recently finshed work on the foundation and texturing of the 4'x2' swamp board and painted its base-boat of brown… but watching this "Stylised Wargame Swamp" video of yours helped me realize I should make some adjustments to the ground before moving on to the finishing stages of building my swamp. Just shows that your tutorials can be very useful for more experienced and "advanced" terrain builders, as well as rookies. Thanks very much for making this tutorial and for posting it here on TMP! |
