Three of us got together this weekend for a couple of three player Galleys & Galleons games. I'm really pleased with how robust the rules are proving to be and much anguish and laughter was enjoyed (in equal measure) by all involved. Both games had 600 points worth of models on the table – the recommended game size is 400 points total – and took between an hour and a half or two hours. All photos are mediocre to say the least.

Cheers!

Sounds like a good time was had by all!

I am really looking forward to these rules. Do they play well as compared to (for instance) Man 'o War? Is a 48" square sufficient for 1/450 ships? At any rate, thanks for the AAR and the photos.

Coelacanth, as somebody with a very pronounced interest in the rules, I'm probably not the best person to say how they match up against other sets. That said, yes, they play much better than the afore mentioned product. Wind is much more of a factor (as it should be in sailing games). The mechanics are based on Ganesha Games core principles (Song of Blades and Heroes and Mighty Monsters etc) and are not I-go-you-go in any strict sense.

We have been playing mostly on 36x36 inch tables, or 1mx1m. The 48 inch table gave plenty of space for maneuvering. I still managed to run aground though :)

Re: HarryHotspurEsq:

I mentioned Man o'War only because I had played it a lot. I am glad that it's not I-go-you-go, as I really don't like that style of play for naval games. I am sorry to hear that you ran aground, but you knew the risks when you painted on the uniform. laugh

Thanks for the quick response. I look forward to trying the rules myself as soon as they are published.
