Now this is bloody good news fellas!

Cold War Gone Hot

October sees us diving into a brand new period as we release Fulda Gap. The period of the modern war when tensions between NATO and the Warsaw Pact were running high is a wonderful theatre to develop as the forces arrayed on both sides boast some of the coolest-looking equipment in history. And with the advances in technology, we are looking forward to seeing forces of M1-Abrams covered by A10-Thunderbolts pitting their might against the swathes of T-72s and BMP-mounted infantry. We plan for this to be a complete period with books covering nations and plastic sets for all the main vehicles of every nation. October is just the start and 2016 will have more books and additional miniatures.

I'm actually pretty well off for kit, if only I could get a chance to paint it, but be interested to see their rules and have interest in the period raised a tad amongst the young úns…

T-64s rather than T-72s hopefully :)

nickinsomerset16 Mar 2015 2:07 a.m. PST

This came up last week, plenty of discussion on the T-64 not T-72 bit!

Tally Ho!

Hopefully, Battlefront is reading/listening.

Not that I mind T-72s, since they're great for Warsaw Pact forces.

Will fast light missile launching vehicles rush past MBt to shoot them in the back?

Will you see more parking lots huddling behind villages?

David Manley16 Mar 2015 3:03 a.m. PST

We'll probably have on table Harrier hides too :)

nickinsomerset16 Mar 2015 3:14 a.m. PST

Jcfrog,

no the parking lot will be at Wolfgangs!

Should provide a quick set up and play game,

Tally Ho!

We should have our new motor rifle infantry out by then

I was really hoping they would cover the early sixties and seventies. After all, the closest we probably ever came to fighting in West Berlin and the Fulda Gap was during the Cuban Missile Crisis. M48's and M60's vs T62's and T54's yowsa!!!

But when will QRF – a British firm mind you-- finally release their BAOR in helmets? Right now all they offer is British infantry in berets. The shame!

nickinsomerset16 Mar 2015 12:31 p.m. PST

British troops in trenches would be good!

Tally Ho!

Mako1116 Mar 2015 12:58 p.m. PST

Mid-late 1950s too, when the Soviets had 170 divisions, and NATO and West Germany just had a handful.

I concur in interest for the early to mid-Cold War period as well, as you suggest, Dave.

Of course, if things looked really bad, we might have had to resort to tactical nukes to "save" Europe, which would have been worse, I suspect.

DontFearDareaper Fezian16 Mar 2015 2:52 p.m. PST

True Mako, and there was a real chance the balloon would go up during the Berlin Airlift which was 1948 IIRC. Post German reunification in the 90's, the Russkies have to push aways to even get to the Fulda Gap.

Well said Sir! Well said!

Hopefully now they will try and beat Battlefront to it. I believe they have the greens all done and good to go….

British troops in trenches would be good!

Yes! – 4 man and 2 man slits and Milan firing posts…

Done, in the factory and waiting for Chas to find time to mould them.

British troops in 4 man and 2 man slits and Milan firing posts…

Noted on the trenches.

Just about to send Chas the Canadians…

so how would the cold war game work? Both sides build forces back by nukes and super weapons till one player runs out of money first and can't pay to play any more?
:)

Ha, ha, yes. FOW is bad and stupid and costs a lot of money. We get it.

But is it really necessary to make negative comments?

latto6plus219 Mar 2015 8:47 a.m. PST

I think hes parodying the cold war rather than FOW.

GeoffQRF19 Mar 2015 10:19 a.m. PST

I'm quite happy with wargamers getting into arms races…

Lion in the Stars19 Mar 2015 11:18 a.m. PST

I'd happily get into a cold-war arms race. I just want my S-tanks and PBv302s to start the collection!
