I have played RCW using Red Actions many times and really like the rules. I use 15mm Peter Pig figures and I have written up some material on my blog:

I recommend these rules and the others produced by The Perfect Captain.

They're our go-to rules for RCW.

Hi Snowydog,

I read through your blog with great interest. I liked your reviews on rules for different periods. Your review on Red Action is how I think about RCW rules should be. Keep up the good work :-)

Interesting thoughts on RA. Might be worth mentioning there's a few unofficial third-party variants out there;

Mark Plant's revised rules, army lists and unit cards which aim for greater accuracy and larger battles involving command & control chains:

A Danish club's house variant called "Red Actions, White Reactions" which has some major changes to mechanics to introduce WEGO simultaneous movement and Command Points instead of unit activation. AFAIK they can only be obtained from the Files section of the Perfect Captain Yahoo group which you have to join:

A Spanish Civil War player variant called "Guerra Civil Actions" is also to be found there.

Love Red Actions but also the Lardies 'Triumph of the Will' is well worth a look.

I also like TOTW by Too Fat Lardies. I use it for Russo-Polish, Freikorps versus Spartacists, and Balkan Wars – not to mention RCW.

Read your blog. Irregular miniatures sells Kriegspiel blocks.
