Anyone have any ideas as to whether it is still possible to locate a set of these rules ?

Many thanks,

They pop up on ebay every once in awhile. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. Do you actually game with them?

You might find someone willing to part with a used rules set.

I will be keeping mine, though not sure where they've gotten too at the moment, since the move.

You could also try to M&M Yahoo Group.

Mark,

Just checked e-bay, no dice. Pardon the pun.

Keep checking.(I was able to score a copy of RAF on e-bay a couple of years ago, albeit a BIT more expensive than when I originally purchased the game!)

I do own a copy M & M, haven't played a live opponent in the last 3-4 years but find it still hard to part with it.

1/72nd still my favorite scale. 3-D was worth the effort.

Let me know, after a while, if you can't locate a copy.

1/72nd is neat, but you need a lot of room.

1/144th scale for WWII is a decent compromise, for large-scale, and there are lots of aircraft available now.

If you go to consimworld and look up Ken Ellis he will probably have a set to sell you. Make sure to say which edition you would like.

Sold mine (along with the W.W. I version "Triplane") about 10 years ago.

Fun set of rules. My old club (going back over 20 years) used to play the hell out of them.

We rented a spot in a school that let us use their indoor basketball court. That was about the size of space you needed for a full 1/72 size game.

Sold all my planes (60 or so) and moved to Check Your 6!. Now I game on the table on my back deck.

Thanks for the info everyone.

CY6 and Bag the Hun are fun but lacking something in the third dimension for me.

Was interested to see how it was dealt with elsewhere other than in Fighting Wings.

Duel of Eagles for WWII, and Clash of Sabres for post-WWII – early 1970s are quite good for 3-D gaming.

They have rules to permit you to turn tighter, when using the vertical axis, as in real life. They're reasonably comparable to M&M, and with 1/144th, 1/300th, or 1/600th minis, you can play games on the tabletop, pretty easily.

Paired with my telescoping, swivel-head, Topgun Dogfight 3-D Flight Stands, you can represent 50,000 feet of altitude in 100 foot increments.

See pics below for images of some games using 1/144th scale aircraft, and/or Titanium diecast metal (shown), or X-Wing plastic spacefighters:

You can get DoE and CoS as PDFs, on-line.

They are hex-less, and using curved turning templates for maneuvering, like in X-Wing.

E-mail me at:

if you want more info about the flight stands, or anything else related to aerial gaming.

Mark, the M&M Yahoo group has a pdf of the rules for free.

Also if you ever get to Salt Lake City you are welcome to join us in a game. (Every other Thursday night)

Mark Barker19 Mar 2015 12:39 p.m. PST

Membership request sent to the Yahoo Group.

Thanks for the information and your kind offer – Salt Lake City is a world away from the rolling downs of the South of England to get to but never say never !

Hmm,

No luck on the pdfs, does anyone have a scan that they would be willing to send ?

Thanks,

Mark B.

Mark, if you prefer a 3-d feel to air wargames take a look at Blazing Skies on the Atkins wargames site.
